Our Compliance team are trusted advisors to the business, building programs and providing advice and support to help our teams comply with these evolving requirements. To manage the design, implementation, and ongoing review of an effective control framework to ensure Coles 360 remains compliant with applicable laws and mandatory requirements. This includes compliance with the Food and Grocery Code of Conduct and other Competition and Consumer Protection laws. This will include:
Supplier engagement practices (including monitoring complaints and resolutions) aligned with existing practices across Coles’ Supermarkets and Liquor businesses.
Development of processes, procedures, and tools.
Design and delivery of compliance training for new starters, as well as refresher and bespoke training for existing teams.
Identification of key legal areas (privacy, marketing, contractual, etc.) to ensure appropriate SME support from the broader Legal and Safety team.
As Coles 360 and the retail media market evolve, ensuring the compliance framework reflects best practice.
Provide timely, accurate, and trusted regulatory and compliance advice to Coles 360 teams, ensuring alignment with broader existing Coles’ business practices.
Engage and consult with relevant stakeholders when preparing advice.
Participate in key Coles 360 initiatives to identify and mitigate business risks.
Support regulatory issue management, including investigation, monitoring, and reporting on supplier issues and complaints.
Define compliance obligations across relevant regulatory areas.
Design, implement, and monitor compliance controls, including training, tools, policies and procedures.
Respond to compliance issues and escalate where required.
Monitor regulatory changes and coordinate responses with relevant stakeholders.
Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities.
Translate legislation into clear, practical resources, procedures, and communications.
Participate in projects to ensure controls are embedded for compliance with new and existing legislation.
Develop and deliver targeted training to address gaps and regulatory changes.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, embedding within forums where business initiatives are discussed.
Foster a strong compliance culture, emphasising regulatory adherence and customer outcomes.
Influence and educate stakeholders to establish a network of compliance champions.
Effectively engage senior management to articulate compliance risks.
5+ years’ experience in a compliance role or related discipline.
Experience building compliance programs, including control design, monitoring, investigation, and issue resolution.
Strong stakeholder management experience, including engagement with senior leaders.
Experience preparing reports for senior management.
Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation and develop training and tools.
Experience in retail media or a media agency environment is highly regarded.
Ability to work independently and take ownership in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Demonstrated commitment to company values, policies, and procedures (including the Coles Code of Conduct) and all applicable laws and regulations.
Ability to work autonomously and navigate ambiguity with limited direction.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong project management capabilities.
Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
Strong understanding of Coles business operations.
Legal or related background highly regarded.
