Job Responsibilities:
Product Regulatory Compliance & Stewardship
Monitor and interpret global chemical regulations impacting products (e.g., EU REACH, TSCA, California Prop 65, PFAS, regulations in Canada and Brazil), develop and implement compliance action plans.
Lead and support substance registrations and notifications (e.g. TSCA PMNs, SNURs etc.) to regulatory agencies.
Conduct and support regulatory reviews for new product introductions and market expansions.
Provide regulatory and sustainability support for new product introductions.
Maintain documentation to support compliance audits and customer regulatory inquiries.
Manage and respond to customer regulatory requests related to product compliance or other regulatory matters
Partner with business unit leaders, sourcing and procurement, R&D, manufacturing sites, and other cross functional stakeholders to proactively manage product compliance
Develop, implement, and/or support best practices for minimizing exposure to employees and the environment from fiber, dust and chemicals.
Attend/support customer issues related to compliance and stewardship
Lead and/or participate in industry consortiums and regulatory forums to advance and defend Alkegen’s policies and positions impacting its products
Develop, implement, train on procedures, process and systems for product and facility compliance to cross functional stakeholders.
Lead / support communication with regulatory agencies, consultants and external stakeholders on compliance requests, Notices of Violation and Notice of Consent orders. Manage environmental monitoring, data collection, and reporting.
Support remediation projects, reporting, and stakeholder communication related to PFAS.
PFAS Program Management
Develop, implement and support strategies for PFAS compliance, risk reduction, and substitution in products, processes, and supply chains.
Conduct assessments of PFAS use and potential environmental and health impacts, as applicable.
Engage with suppliers, customers, and regulators regarding PFAS regulations and best practices.
SDS Authoring & Management
Prepare, review, and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and labels in accordance with global GHS and Transportation standards (e.g., OSHA HazCom, REACH/CLP, WHMIS, etc.)
Maintain SDS databases and ensure version control and timely updates.
Collaborate with R&D, Technical Sales, EHS, Operations and Quality to gather product composition and hazard data.
Support implementation of systems for chemical inventories for regulatory reporting (SARA, TRI, NPRI, EPA, REACH, TSCA, among others) as needed
Interact with customers and track samples sent to customers on items that require compliance or stewardship oversight
Attend customer meetings or visit customers where critical issues related to compliance and stewardship will be discussed
Lead and/or participate in industry consortiums and regulatory forums to advance and defend Alkegen’s policies and positions impacting its products i.e. HTIW, etc.
Site Environmental Regulatory Compliance
Monitor and interpret current and emerging multimedia (air, water, waste, chemicals etc.) environmental compliance regulations, including restricted and prohibited substances such as PFAS, SVHCs, CMRs, Endocrine Disruptors and other substances, and assess their impact on operations.
Oversee environmental programs, supporting the sites, on air, water, waste, hazardous materials, and chemical management as applicable.
Support manufacturing sites on compliance with federal, state, provincial and local regulatory agencies (e.g., ECHA, EPA, OSHA, DOT, state environmental agencies).
Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs, policies, and procedures. Lead / support implementation of environmental management system in-line with ISO 14001 standard, Life Cycle Analysis (LCAs) as applicable.
Lead/support sites on required regulatory permits, reports working with site HSE and Plant Managers.
Lead / support communication with regulatory agencies, consultants and external stakeholders on compliance requests, Notices of Violation and Notice of Consent orders. Manage environmental monitoring, data collection, and reporting.
Lead environmental compliance audits, inspections, and corrective actions to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Develop strategies to minimize environmental compliance footprint and manage environmental risks.
Support corporate sustainability initiatives, as they relate to regulatory compliance, where appropriate
Lead / support implementation of software solutions to manage environmental compliance requirements as appropriate
Support Industrial Hygiene program for management of chemicals, dust and fiber exposure.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Chemistry, Toxicology, Industrial Hygiene or related field
7+ years of North, South America (i.e. US, Canada, Brazil) experience, in Chemical, Heavy Industrial or Manufacturing sector, in global regulatory compliance, environmental management, product stewardship or sustainability, with PFAS experience strongly preferred.
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental, industrial hygiene regulations, including emerging PFAS requirements.
Proven track record in developing environmental compliance, ISO 14001 management systems and sustainability initiatives.
Experience authoring global SDSs, global GHS implementation and chemical hazard classification.
Knowledge of and experience with product chemical regulations (REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, PFAS, Prop 65, Food Contact Materials, Packaging Regulations etc.)
Knowledge of and experience with multimedia US federal, state, local (air, water, waste, chemicals (TRI, Tier II), SPCC etc.) environmental compliance regulations
Experience working with federal, state and local regulators (EPA, NYDEC, NHDES etc.)
Experience with environmental software tools for SDS management, supplier compliance data collection (e.g. 3E, ETQ, VelocityEHS, Enablon, Intelex etc.)
Ability to work collaboratively across the business with cross functional stakeholders managing through influence.
Excellent writing and presentation skills required
Ability to work with a sense of urgency and strict deadlines.
Ability to execute risk management initiatives and long-term projects
High level of integrity, willingness and ability to demonstrate Alkegen's core values

Global Experience
Experience with Life Cycle Analysis / Product Carbon Footprint
Professional certifications (e.g., CHMM, QEP, CEM, NEBOSH) preferred.
Salary: USD 100,000 - 120,000
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
