Job Description

Spacetalk is building a safer digital world for families.

We are an ASX-listed technology company creating an integrated ecosystem of wearable devices, mobile services and software designed to keep families connected and protected.

What started as a pioneering children’s smartwatch business has rapidly evolved into a broader family safety platform spanning connected devices, mobile connectivity, subscription services and software.

As we continue scaling globally across Australia, Europe and future markets, compliance, governance and operational discipline are becoming increasingly important to how we operate, grow and protect customer trust.

This is an opportunity to help shape and mature compliance capability inside a fast-moving technology company operating across telecommunications, consumer products, eCommerce and connected services.

About the Role

We are seeking a commercially minded Compliance & Regulatory Manager to build and support Spacetalk’s internal compliance capability across telecommunications, consumer, marketing, product and operational compliance.

Reporting to the SVP of Global Mobile, this role will partner across the business to ensure regulatory obligations are understood, operationalised and proactively managed.

You will work closely with Product, Mobile, Customer Experience, Marketing, Supply Chain and Security teams, while also partnering with external compliance advisors and regulators where required.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complexity, improving governance maturity and acting as a pragmatic business partner rather than a pure policy administrator.

Importantly, the role will help bring more day-to-day compliance capability in-house as Spacetalk scales globally.

Mandate

The Compliance & Regulatory Manager exists to:

  • Build scalable internal compliance capability across Spacetalk
  • Reduce regulatory and operational risk exposure
  • Ensure compliance obligations are embedded into business processes and operational workflows
  • Improve compliance systems, controls and governance maturity
  • Partner cross-functionally to support commercially responsible growth
  • Reduce reliance on external compliance advisory support over time

Key Accountabilities

Telecommunications & Regulatory Compliance

  • Support compliance across Spacetalk’s mobile and telecommunications operations
  • Help manage obligations relating to ACMA, TIO and related telecommunications frameworks
  • Support compliant onboarding, activation and customer lifecycle processes
  • Coordinate with regulators and external advisors where required

Consumer, Marketing & Advertising Compliance

  • Review and support compliance of marketing campaigns, promotions and customer communications
  • Ensure alignment with Australian Consumer Law (ACL), ACCC requirements and State Fair Trading obligations
  • Partner with Marketing and Product teams to improve compliance processes and approvals

Product, Supply Chain & Operational Compliance

  • Support compliance activities relating to product certifications, EU regulatory requirements and waste obligations
  • Assist with Sedex, supplier governance and operational compliance activities
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Product teams to improve operational governance maturity

Governance, Policies & Controls

  • Develop and maintain compliance policies, frameworks and operational controls
  • Maintain compliance registers, audit trackers and governance documentation
  • Support internal training and awareness programs across teams
  • Track and assess emerging regulatory developments and advise the business on impacts

Cross-Functional Risk & Compliance Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Product, Mobile, Customer Experience, Operations and Security teams
  • Collaborate with the Head of Security where compliance obligations intersect with information security, privacy and platform governance
  • Support the business in operationalising compliant processes across customer, product and mobile workflows

External Advisor & Regulatory Coordination

  • Work closely with Tiger & Bear and other external advisors
  • Coordinate regulatory enquiries, notices and requests for information
  • Help transition appropriate operational compliance activities in-house over time

Requirements

About You

You are commercially pragmatic, highly organised and comfortable operating in fast-moving environments where priorities evolve quickly.

You enjoy balancing risk management with business enablement and are confident partnering with both operational teams and senior stakeholders.

You are someone who naturally brings structure, accountability and clarity to complex environments.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • 5+ years experience in compliance, regulatory or risk management roles
  • Strong understanding of Australian regulatory frameworks and governance principles
  • Experience working cross-functionally with operational teams
  • Strong written communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience developing policies, controls and governance processes

Highly Desirable

  • Telecommunications or MVNO experience
  • Experience with ACMA, TIO, ACCC or consumer compliance frameworks
  • Experience reviewing marketing and advertising compliance
  • Exposure to product, supply chain or ESG compliance environments
  • Experience working with external legal or regulatory advisors
  • Experience within technology, fintech, SaaS or consumer products businesses

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package and ESOP participation opportunities
  • Hybrid working environment based in Sydney
  • Opportunity to help build and mature an in-house compliance function
  • Exposure across telecommunications, technology, product and operational compliance
  • Work closely with senior leadership across Mobile, Product, Operations and Customer Experience
  • Be part of a fast-moving Australian technology company scaling globally
  • Genuine opportunity to influence governance maturity and operational standards

Why Join Us?

This is a unique opportunity to join Spacetalk during a major transformation.

If you are someone who enjoys building structure, improving operational maturity and partnering closely with the business to enable responsible growth, we would love to hear from you.

About Spacetalk

Spacetalk Limited (ASX:SPA) is a wearables enabled software subscription and Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) business. We have developed an ecosystem of interconnected products that provide safety, security and peace of mind to families. As a package, the company’s technology platform provides a complete digital communication solution that supports safety and security for families across their life stages and for employees working in remote settings. The company’s unique proprietary ecosystem, which has continued to evolve over time, is today recognised as a leader in family safety and the connected wearables industry.

The Spacetalk technology platform comprises both market-leading hardware and a trusted, client-controlled software platform that provides safety and security to users via the benefits of mobile technology.

The multi-functional Software-as-a-Service Spacetalk App can be customised, giving clients the ability to enable or disable individual features. Parents are empowered to block their child's access to the open internet, social media and inappropriate adult content while simultaneously blocking calls and messages from unknown senders. The app can also track the location of vulnerable family members, including children and seniors requiring constant monitoring.

Spacetalk’s best-in-class software platform additionally supports children’s development by facilitating engaging, confidence-building experiences that the whole family can participate in and enjoy.

Spacetalk’s core hardware, its smartphone-watch, is effectively a child’s first mobile phone. It offers all the benefits of a smartphone, operating on a secure, private and parent-controlled ecosystem that can be customised to reflect each family’s needs and values.
