If you bring strong technical knowledge, a collaborative approach and a passion for navigating codes, standards and project requirements, we would love to hear from you.

About the role

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers and specialist disciplines to support regulatory compliance and technical integration across projects
  • Lead architectural compliance processes, particularly in relation to departures from project requirements, ensuring appropriate justification, review and documentation
  • Understand and allocate project requirements in line with relevant contract obligations
  • Conduct detailed interrogation of data relating to design performance, compliance and interface requirements, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders
  • Assess and interpret the impact of regulatory and client-specific requirements on design proposals, providing logical and practical advice to support decision-making
  • Manage and monitor interface requirements, ensuring team leaders and project teams understand and meet compliance obligations
  • Prepare clear, concise compliance reports and present complex technical information in an accessible way
  • Identify project risks and maintain the RAIDOC register covering risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, opportunities and constraints
  • Support the implementation and management of the compliance framework across design teams

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • experience in an architectural, design or related technical role
  • strong technical drawing and documentation understanding
  • solid knowledge of relevant codes, standards and statutory requirements, including the BCA, Australian Standards, DSAPT and related compliance frameworks
  • a collaborative working style and the ability to work effectively across disciplines
  • strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to understand not only how requirements apply, but why
  • experience interpreting and interrogating data to validate compliance outcomes
  • familiarity with managing Project Requirement Departures and related assurance processes
  • an understanding of project technical requirements and how interface disciplines contribute to overall compliance
  • strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • an organised and detail-focused approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

About Hassell

We are a leading international design practice with studios in Asia, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Our purpose is to create a better future by designing the world’s best places – places people love.

Our design values are shared globally across all our studios, by the talented people who work in them: architects, interior designers, landscape architects, urban designers, planners and specialist consultants.

We work across a broad range of scales, from the interior design of a boutique retail store through to major public architecture and strategic urban planning for cities. And we work together in integrated design teams because they produce the best outcomes for our clients.

Our focus is on people and how we create better, more meaningful experiences for them. We do that through creative, holistic thinking, a deep knowledge base and a rigorous design process.

We judge the success of the buildings and places we design by the way people use and enjoy them - the clients who commission them, the people who inhabit them.

We are a Certified B Corp.
