We’re focused on providing superior genetics, reliable testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and great customer service, all designed to help farmers make smarter decisions every day.

As a proud generational co-operative, we’re here for farmers, their families, and rural communities, not just for today, but for the future. And none of it happens without our people. Whether on farm, in the lab, or behind the scenes, every one of us plays a part in helping New Zealand farmers succeed.

Your Role:

Reporting to the AB Production Manager, you'll lead LIC's Awahuri Semen Processing Laboratory, ensuring production targets, quality standards and EU export requirements are consistently achieved.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee laboratory operations, develop a high-performing team, drive continuous improvement, and work closely with key stakeholders across AB Operations, International and Sexing Technologies.

Your Key Focus:

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the Awahuri Semen Processing Laboratory.

  • Deliver semen production targets and export shipment deadlines.

  • Ensure compliance with EU, GBR and WOAH regulatory requirements.

  • Develop, coach and lead a high-performing laboratory team.

  • Drive continuous improvement across laboratory systems and processes.

  • Manage operational budgets and deliver financial performance targets.

  • Monitor and report on key operational and quality performance measures.

  • Build effective relationships across the business to ensure seamless product delivery.

  • Champion a strong health, safety and quality culture.

About You:

  • Leadership experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, production or operational environment.

  • Proven ability to build, motivate and develop high-performing teams.

  • Experience managing workloads, priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Sound understanding of quality systems and compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; SAP experience is advantageous.

  • Knowledge of the Export Germplasm OAP Operational Code, EU & GBR OMARs and WOAH regulations is highly desirable.

  • Auditor or auditee experience would be beneficial.

  • A tertiary qualification in Biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline is preferred..

In Return:

In addition to a competitive salary, you'll receive extra leave days, discounted health, life, income and disability insurances, access to our employee shares scheme, wellbeing discounts, free onsite parking, an employee assistance programme, plus more!

The role provides the opportunity to join a progressive and forward-thinking agri-tech organisation, where you'll play a key role in driving the future of dairy in NZ and around the globe.
