Job Description

Compliance Data Specialist

Join Biffa Producer Compliance Solutions as a Compliance Data Specialist, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate, compliant regulatory submissions for a portfolio of producer customers.

This is a predominantly data-focused role (approximately 80%), centred on analysing, validating and standardising customer-submitted data to meet regulatory requirements. Alongside this, you’ll act as a trusted point of contact for customers, providing clear guidance and support throughout compliance submission periods.

We’re looking for someone highly analytical, detail-oriented and confident working with complex Excel datasets — as well as comfortable communicating clearly with customers when needed.

A quick look at the role.

As a Compliance Data Specialist, you will take ownership of customer data from receipt through to final submission. Customer datasets often vary in structure and format, so you’ll use advanced Excel skills and logical problem-solving to cleanse, manipulate and standardise information in line with regulatory requirements.

You will work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth submission cycles, resolve data queries efficiently, and maintain high standards of accuracy and documentation.

Your core responsibilities.

  • Receive and review customer data submissions in various Excel formats
  • Cleanse, validate and standardise datasets to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Perform calculations, reconciliations and data checks with high accuracy
  • Identify inconsistencies or gaps in data and proactively resolve issues
  • Act as the main point of contact for allocated customers during submission periods
  • Provide clear guidance on data requirements and submission timelines
  • Support customers during Environment Agency audits, including preparing and reviewing required data and documentation
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient and documented processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of data handling and compliance processes
  • Support internal colleagues with new business leads as required

Requirements

Our essential requirements.

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (including formulas, data manipulation and validation techniques)
  • Naturally analytical with strong problem-solving ability
  • Meticulous, organised and comfortable working with large datasets
  • Confident communicating clearly and professionally with customers
  • Able to manage multiple priorities during busy submission periods
  • Proactive and self-motivated

(Prior knowledge of environmental regulations, such as Extended Producer Responsibility and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, is helpful but not required — full training will be provided).

Benefits

And here’s why you’ll love it at Biffa.

  • Ongoing career development, training and coaching – Because if you don’t grow, we don’t grow.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Generous pension scheme.
  • Retail and leisure discounts.
  • Holiday and travel discounts.
  • Life cover.
