Purpose of Role:

To coordinate, support and advise the network on all aspects with regard to Compliance, Health, Safety and Security. To establish, manage and monitor standards, processes and communications. The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that all facilities comply with safety Legislation and that safety and operational policies and practices are adopted and adhered to.

Reports to: Network Operations Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety and Operational policies, procedures, and regulations through regular review, updates, and network-wide communication.
  • Maintain a safe workplace environment that mitigates risks to health.
  • Oversee organisational compliance with statutory obligations regarding health, safety, and welfare, including mandatory training and reporting.
  • Execute and regularly review comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Perform routine site inspections to verify the effective implementation of internal policies and procedures.
  • Document and investigate all accidents, ensuring the implementation of recommended improvements.
  • Manage safety inspections, fire drills, and alarm reporting; oversee risk assessments and lone working procedures while ensuring employee accountability.
  • Maintain full and accurate records for health, safety, and training compliance.
  • Develop and facilitate a structured health & safety training programme across the organisation.
  • Liaise with external consultants to provide specialised training programmes and health and safety services.
  • Stay informed on relevant health, safety, and welfare legislation and communicate critical changes to the SPARK network.
  • Provide regular reporting on operations, health and safety activities and metrics.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
  • Investigate and record incidents, accidents, complaints, and cases of occupational ill health.
  • Verify that all equipment is installed correctly and according to safety standards.
  • Identify potential hazards within the school environment.
  • Establish safe operational practices and implement necessary procedural changes alongside the facilities and operations team.
  • Draft health and safety strategies and develop internal organisational policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new and evolving legislation.
  • Investigate and maintain documentation on criminal activities occurring on properties, reporting such incidents to the appropriate authorities.
  • Monitor campus emergencies and equipment malfunctions in coordination with security providers.
  • Respond to emergencies or urgent operations and facilities-related issues as they arise.

Requirements

Qualifications and Criteria:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and criteria:

  • A diploma or degree in a related field
  • PSIRA Grade A and PSIRA registration
  • Occupational Health & Safety training
  • First Aid Level 3

Experience:

  • 1 - 3 Years of experience in a related field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory compliance and procedure drafting
  • Strong understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Multi-site management will be an advantage
