Job Purpose

The Compliance Consultant is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of policies and procedures to ensure the Company's compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate compliance initiatives, and providing support for Jackson's Compliance Program. The Compliance Consultant will assist with the drafting of policies and procedures, determining compliance of such policies with regulatory requirements, completing assigned tasks and providing assistance to management on projects, reporting and workflow tracking.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Performs reviews and analyzes compliance with relevant financial industry regulations.
  • Responds to inquiries from internal stakeholders about regulatory requirements and other matters.
  • Assists Compliance team with questions from various internal stakeholders.
  • Prepares and submits regulatory filings.
  • Remains current on relevant regulatory matters and Company initiatives.
  • Manages one or more processes and manages projects.
  • Demonstrates superior characteristics in terms of quality work product, dependability, attitude and overall willingness to contribute to team goals.
  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert and may train other associates.
  • Attends stakeholder meetings and other regular touchpoints with Jackson departments, as a liaison of Compliance.
  • Supports management in the implementation of the Compliance Program; implements processes and other improvements.
  • Participates in regular meetings with the Compliance management team.
  • Assists with reporting, as required, to department and senior management and board/committees.
  • Assists with the implementation and design of technological improvements to workflow and processes
  • Participates in the design, documentation, and execution of project plans that identify key issues, problems, tasks, etc. to ensure effective implementation of key compliance initiatives.
  • Facilitates compliance planning, risk assessment processes, and related projects across multiple compliance and regulatory teams by managing tasks, milestones, and timelines within digital workflow systems to ensure efficient execution, clear documentation, and effective management oversight.
  • Prepares and coordinates regular reporting to support management oversight and regulatory readiness.
  • Uses data insights to help prioritize work, identify trends, and support continuous improvement in regulatory and compliance management, including implementing technological improvements to workflows and processes.
  • Maintains accurate process guidelines, templates, and workflows to reflect current practices.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret rules and regulations applicable to Jackson, including state and federal regulations.
  • Working knowledge of insurance operations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of annuity and insurance products, including Jackson products.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, thorough and persistent.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, colleagues, and internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with limited supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to think creatively and identify and implement process and procedural improvements.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience (insurance, financial services, compliance, legal, etc.) required.
