To execute complex compliance assurance assignments, provide assistance to compliance assurance managers, and contribute to the delivery of audit engagements. This role ensures that internal controls are robust and aligned with organisational compliance risk management and regulatory requirements.

  • To provide independent, objective compliance assurance reviews, working individually or as part of a team, to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of compliance risk management, internal controls, and governance processes. The role is responsible for identifying control weaknesses/gaps, evaluating regulatory compliance, and delivering actionable insights and recommendations that strengthen the organisation’s compliance environment and promote continuous improvement.
  • Execute risk-based, scheduled compliance monitoring and thematic reviews across various lines of business.
  • Plan, scope, and execute on-the-ground compliance testing activities based on an approved annual compliance monitoring plan. Design specific testing procedures, sample data, and evaluate operational controls to ensure regulatory and policy requirements are met. Identify policy gaps, control weaknesses, and inconsistencies within processes.
  • Document testing results, root causes, and identified deficiencies in factual, high-quality compliance reports for senior management.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to agree on practical, corrective action plans for any identified issues.
  • Track and follow up on the status of previously issued action items to ensure appropriate implementation.
  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the implementation of Management Action Plans (Issue Validations).
  • Conduct automated and manual ongoing monitoring.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of compliance methodologies and tools.
  • Keep abreast of South African and global regulatory developments.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Auditing, Law, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional certification: CIA, CISA, CA(SA) or equivalent (preferred or in progress).
  • NQF Level: 7- 8
  • Audit/Assurance: 4+ years

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of audit and/or compliance assurance standards and risk-based auditing.
  • Execute audits and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Skilled in identifying control weaknesses and developing practical recommendations.
  • Analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Keep up to date with changes in regulations, industry best practices and trends.
  • Proficient in data analysis, digital tools (including AI e.g. Co-Pilot) and audit software tools.
  • Report-writing abilities

Education

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
