Compliance and Animal Management Officer
Compliance & Parking Services
Temporary full-time for the period 20 July 2026 to 5 March 2027

NOTE: The core days for this position are Monday – Friday The incumbent will be rostered on a 6 week cycle involving 1 week to work on Saturday & Sunday. (Penalty rates apply for Saturday & Sunday)

Band 5 - Starting from $80,410.06 + super + RDO (RDO applicable for full time 38 hours per week only)

The position sits within the Compliance and Parking Branch which provides a high level of customer service within the municipality, balancing the community needs and safety as a priority. You will work as part of a small team to provide high-level customer service in the delivery of Animal Management and Local Laws services to the community. These services are provided both through the education of the community on responsible pet ownership and through administration of Council’s functions under the provisions of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 and delivery of the Council’s Domestic Animal Management Plan to provide services that protect and enhance the safety, health and amenity of the municipality and its residents and visitors. You will be required to:

  • To undertake investigations, resolve requests, and where necessary take appropriate enforcement action to obtain compliance with the Local Laws, Domestic Animal Act 1994, Environmental Protection Act 2017 and other relevant legislation within the municipality.
  • To assist with the service and delivery of animal related inquiries. These will include park patrols and transport of impounded animals to the Lost Dogs Home.
  • To respond to enquiries, complaints and general correspondence from internal and external stakeholders within Council timelines and standards.
  • Have a proven ability to conduct investigations, instigate appropriate enforcement action, conduct interviews of those involved and prepare briefs of evidence.

You will also be required to build and maintain a professional working relationship with all stakeholders and exhibit, respect, teamwork and innovation to improve productivity and efficiency whilst maintaining agreed standards in carrying out duties.
