The Opportunity

The Compliance and Student Services Coordinator supports athletic compliance by ensuring NCAA and Ivy League regulations are followed across Cornell's 37 varsity athletic programs. The role supports recruiting, eligibility, reporting, and compliance processes while collaborating with coaches and staff to maintain institutional compliance. It also provides administrative and logistical support for student-athlete support services, including facilitation of financial assistance, academic resources, and event coordination, helping foster a positive student-athlete experience.

Student & Campus Life (SCL) supports Cornell students' academic, personal, and social development by providing a wide range of programs and services. The division includes experts in student affairs who oversee areas such as health and wellbeing, residential life, dining, recreation, career services, and student organizations. SCL serves approximately 25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students across multiple U.S. and international campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate athletic compliance processes to ensure adherence to NCAA and Ivy League regulations across 37 varsity athletic programs.
  • Manage official recruiting visit procedures, including eligibility verification, compliance review, documentation, and expense reconciliation for approximately 400 official visits annually.
  • Review and approve recruiting and travel expense reports to ensure compliance with NCAA, Ivy League, and university policies.
  • Monitor recruiting activities, student-athlete eligibility, NCAA Eligibility Center records, and Countable Athletically Related Activities (CARA), providing guidance and follow-up with coaching staff.
  • Assist with medical hardship waivers, Ivy League non-participation waivers, fifth-year eligibility requests, transfer documentation, and required NCAA/Ivy League reporting.
  • Support rules education initiatives by assisting with compliance training and communication for coaches, student-athletes, staff, and alumni.
  • Process student-athlete financial assistance and reimbursement requests through the Student-Athlete Assistance Fund (SAAF) and Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund (SAOF).
  • Coordinate student-athlete support services, including tutor hiring and assignments, loaner laptop management, and academic resource administration.
  • Plan and support student-athlete programs, events, and meetings by coordinating logistics, scheduling facilities, ordering supplies, and arranging audiovisual needs.
  • Provide administrative support to senior athletics leadership across compliance, student services, athletic training, strength and conditioning, and student-athlete wellbeing initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary administrative contact for facility operations, managing front-office functions, visitor assistance, and day-to-day building operations.

  • Associate's degree with at least two years of relevant administrative or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, database management systems, and other web-based technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and resolve issues with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

  • Experience with or in a collegiate athletics environment, preferably Division I.
  • Familiarity with Teamworks software (HUB, Compliance & Recruiting, Influencer, etc.) and NCAA application software (NCAA Eligibility Center, transfer portal, LSDBi).

This is a full-time (39 hours/week) endowed position that is based in Ithaca, NY and fully on-site. Core hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. The final schedule will be established in collaboration with the supervisor.
