Job Description

About Elder

Elder is a UK live-in and visiting care introductory agency. We match self-employed carers with older people so they can stay in their own homes rather than move into residential care. Around 500 families use Elder at any one time, and about 14,000 days of care are arranged through the platform every month.

Elder is an introductory agency rather than a regulated care provider. Carers are self-employed and contract directly with the customer. We run vetting, facilitate matching and support both sides.

The role

Safety and Trust makes sure the carers we introduce are properly checked, that our standards are applied consistently, and that concerns reach the right person quickly. The team is currently made up of registered nurses, and part of what it handles is clinical work that stays with them.

The rest is a different profession. Compliance administration, standards casework and assurance reporting are their own discipline, and that is what this role is for. You will run our carer compliance operation end to end, own standards casework, and produce the reporting the team runs on.

You will be the only non-clinical person in the team, which means real autonomy. You will report to the Head of Safety and Trust, who has a regulatory compliance background.

What you will do

Carer compliance

  • Own DBS and PVG orders and renewals end to end, staying ahead of the two-year re-check cycle.
  • Check and record right to work, proof of identity, power of attorney, insurance and training certificates, and chase what is missing or expiring.
  • Keep the compliance record permanently audit-ready. Handle day-to-day training access and system queries.

Standards and first-line casework

  • Run carer standards cases from start to finish, including those raised when a carer leaves a placement early.
  • First line on satisfaction feedback, care profile reviews and carer queries, escalating against agreed triggers.
  • Establish the facts, apply the framework, record the outcome, and escalate what meets the criteria.

Reporting and assurance

  • Produce the weekly pack: volumes, service-level performance, escalation rates and outstanding compliance items.
  • Run a monthly consistency check on a sample of closed cases.
  • Flag where recurring admin could be automated, templated or made self-serve, and make the case with queue data.

What this role is not

  • You will not make clinical judgements or form a view on anyone’s condition. Eligibility criteria are set centrally and applied by our system; anything outside them goes to a clinician.
  • You will not carry out needs assessments or care planning. As an introductory agency, Elder does not do these things.
  • Safeguarding decisions sit with our Designated Safeguarding Lead.

What you will bring

Essential

  • Two to four years in a compliance or vetting role: pre-engagement checks, document verification, right to work, DBS or

equivalent, renewal cycles.

  • Experience working a case queue to a service-level agreement in a CRM or ticketing system.
  • Accuracy under volume, and a record you can evidence to an auditor.
  • Level 3 safeguarding adults, or a commitment to complete it within three months of joining.
  • Working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and how a concern reaches a local authority.
  • The judgement to escalate rather than improvise when a case falls outside the written rule.
  • Clear written English, discretion with sensitive personal information, and a working grasp of UK GDPR.

Desirable

  • Recruitment or staffing compliance, vetting and right to work at volume.
  • Care, health or another regulated sector.
  • Local authority or NHS safeguarding business support or screening.
  • Reporting tools such as Looker.

Not required

  • A clinical qualification, or registration with the NMC, HCPC or Social Work England. This role is designed not to need one.

Elder

About Elder

We are a leading introductory live-in care agency, helping older people get the care they need, in the place, they feel happiest – their own homes.

At Elder, we believe life isn’t about how long you’re here for, it’s about how well it’s lived. It’s about getting the support you need without giving up your dignity. It’s about protecting your independence and making sure you’re able to choose the little things as you age – like what you have for dinner or watch on telly, right through to the big stuff, like where you call home.

The problem: 97% of people say they don't want to end up in a care home and yet the vast majority of people receiving full-time care end up shoe-horned into a solution they never wanted. Often alone and lonely, surrounded by people they don't know.

The solution: We're the alternative to residential care homes. We want your loved ones to be able to stay where they'll be happy, in their own home. They can stay where their memories are, sit in their garden, eat food they actually like, and are even able to keep their pets. All while their needs are being cared for by a vetted, experienced live-in carer, perfectly matched to their needs and personality.

Elder is one of the fastest growing companies in Europe, and we have no intention of slowing down. We’re building the alternative to the care home across the UK & Europe and aim to reshape how society looks after its elderly.
