Summary:

An opportunity is available for an AML & Compliance Analyst to join Thynne + Macartney.

This position will operationalise the firm’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) Program and will also be responsible for assisting the Firm in meeting its broader compliance requirements.

This opportunity is offered on a part-time basis (3 days per week).

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and support the firm's AML/CTF Program, including policies, procedures, risk assessments and compliance reporting.
• Monitor compliance with AML/CTF and other regulatory obligations, identifying risks and recommending improvements where required.
• Manage client due diligence processes, including client onboarding, risk assessments, screening and ongoing monitoring activities.
• Investigate, assess and escalate compliance issues, maintaining appropriate records and completing required reporting.
• Provide compliance advice, guidance and training to partners, lawyers and staff.
• Conduct compliance reviews, testing and Lexon file audits to assess adherence to legislative, regulatory and firm requirements.
• Maintain compliance registers, records and reporting systems, and support audit and regulatory activities.
• Manage stamping and PEXA transactions in accordance with firm policies, legislative requirements and Queensland Revenue Office (QRO) obligations.
• Assist with legal file management, compliance administration and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other compliance and administrative duties as directed.

Skills and competencies:

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Experience in risk & compliance, conflicts and/or AML in the professional or financial services sector
• Prior Knowledge of AML/CTF obligations, ideally familiar with Tranche 2
• Experience with stamp duty and PEXA transactions is advantageous.
• Strong organisational and research skills, attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
• The ability to think analytically and demonstrate sound judgement
• Strong people skills, able to train, mentor, assist others and resolve issues effectively
• A flexible, versatile and adaptable approach to new situations, processes and technology
• A strong attention to detail
• Experience working with Microsoft Suite including Word and Excel, and preferable experience utilising legal and business search engines and databases
