Compliance Advisor

The opportunity

Downer’s Energy and Utilities business has an opportunity for an experienced Compliance Advisor to join our Power Projects team.

Reporting to the Head of Quality, Governance and Support Services, you will support the ongoing implementation and administration of training and competency requirements across the business. You will maintain compliance within Downer and client competency management systems while also supporting apprenticeship programs and plant risk management system compliance.

This role will see you work closely with operational teams, clients, registered training organisations, suppliers and subcontractors to coordinate training activities and maintain accurate competency records.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating training providers, venues, schedules and resources
  • Supporting site inductions and project specific training programs
  • Completing training needs analysis for employees and subcontractors
  • Maintaining training calendars, registers and booking records
  • Creating and updating profiles within Downer and client competency management systems
  • Uploading licences, qualifications and induction records
  • Monitoring competency, course and certification compliance
  • Identifying upcoming expiries and escalating compliance exceptions
  • Preparing regular compliance and training reports
  • Supporting a proactive and positive approach to health, safety and environmental requirements

What we’re looking for

You will be an organised and solutions focused compliance professional who can manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • At least five years of experience in a similar training, competency or compliance role
  • Experience developing skills or competency matrices
  • Experience managing training records, compliance activities and audits
  • Knowledge of plant or competency management systems
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • The ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong planning, coordination and problem solving capabilities
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is preferred
  • Experience working within a large multidisciplinary organisation with a diverse workforce will be highly regarded.
