Hiring Range: $335,000.00 - $385,000.00

Actual pay depends on specialty, experience, and performance.

Riverside Medical Group is currently seeking a full-time Complex Gynecology & Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) Faculty Physician to join the Riverside OB/GYN Residency Program at Riverside Brentwood Medical Education in Newport News, Virginia.

This unique faculty opportunity is ideal for a physician with MIGS fellowship training or significant experience in advanced gynecologic surgery and da Vinci robotic surgery who is passionate about resident education, mentorship, and delivering exceptional gynecologic care. This position is focused exclusively on gynecology and does not include obstetrical responsibilities

As a faculty physician, you will join a collaborative team of respected educators, physicians, and clinical professionals dedicated to training the next generation of OB/GYN specialists. You will play a vital role in resident education through clinical teaching, surgical mentorship, didactic instruction, and curriculum development while providing high-quality gynecologic care to patients across the continuum.

Position Highlights

This faculty position combines clinical practice, surgery, education, and administrative leadership responsibilities, including:

  • Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including robotic-assisted surgery.
  • Evaluation and management of complex gynecologic conditions
  • Gynecologic surgery consultations and referrals
  • Management of pelvic pain, endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, and other complex gynecologic disorders
  • Inpatient gynecology service coverage
  • Emergency Department gynecology consultations
  • Add-on and urgent gynecologic surgical procedures
  • Resident education in both clinical and surgical settings
  • Development and delivery of residency didactics and educational programming
  • Leadership and oversight of the residency's EMIGS (Essentials in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery) curriculum and training activities

Typical Faculty Schedule

While schedules may vary based on clinical and educational needs, the anticipated weekly structure includes:

  • 1 day in the Operating Room
  • 2 days in outpatient clinic
  • 2 days serving as GYN Float Attending covering:
    • Gynecology inpatient service
    • Emergency Department consultations
    • Add-on surgical cases

Additional schedule flexibility may include:

  • Some weeks with 2 dedicated OR days
  • Some weeks with 3 outpatient clinic days
  • A minimum of two 8-hour administrative days monthly dedicated to educational initiatives, curriculum development, resident mentorship, scholarship, and residency program projects

  • Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS)
  • Robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery (da Vinci preferred)
  • Complex benign gynecology
  • Endometriosis management
  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Abnormal uterine bleeding
  • Fibroids and other gynecologic disorders
  • Hysteroscopy and laparoscopy
  • Gynecologic surgical consultation and perioperative care
  • Resident surgical education and mentorship

Education

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an LCME- or COCA-accredited medical school
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program
  • MIGS Fellowship training preferred, or significant experience in advanced gynecologic surgery and robotic surgery

Certification(s) & Licensure

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure by the Virginia Board of Medicine
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology through ABOG
  • Current DEA registration
  • Fellow of ACOG preferred
