Compensation Specialist

Position Purpose

The Compensation Specialist supports the administration and delivery of compensation programs that align with Home Depot's business objectives and associate needs. This role is responsible for coordinating compensation processes, maintaining data integrity, preparing reports and analyses, and providing operational support for compensation programs, annual salary administration activities, incentive plans, recognition programs, and compliance initiatives.

Working closely with Compensation team members, HR partners, Finance, and business stakeholders, the Specialist helps ensure compensation programs are administered accurately, consistently, and efficiently while delivering a positive customer experience. This role will report into the Manager, Compensation.

Responsibilities

Compensation Program Administration

  • Support the administration of compensation programs for the Canadian Division, including salary administration, hourly wage reviews, short-term incentive programs, and recognition initiatives.
  • Coordinate compensation activities within Workday and related systems, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Assist with annual compensation cycles, including merit reviews, salary structure updates, and short-term incentive plan administration.
  • Maintain compensation policies, guidelines, and program documentation.
  • Respond to routine compensation inquiries from HR partners, leaders, and associates.

Reporting & Data Support

  • Compile, validate, and audit compensation data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Support data gathering and reporting related to compensation programs.
  • Assist in identifying data discrepancies and partner with stakeholders to resolve issues.

Market Data & Job Evaluation Support

  • Participate in compensation survey submissions and maintain market pricing data.
  • Support compensation benchmarking activities through data collection and report preparation.
  • Assist with job evaluation and job review processes by gathering information, preparing documentation, and maintaining records.
  • Support compensation team members in evaluating organizational and job structure changes.

Compliance & Governance

  • Support compliance with applicable legislation, including minimum wage, pay equity, and pay transparency requirements.
  • Assist with audits, documentation, controls, and governance activities related to compensation programs.
  • Ensure compensation data and processes adhere to company policies and established guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation for compensation decisions and programs.

Stakeholder Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide timely and customer-focused support to HR partners and business stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing compensation communications, presentations, manager resources, and related materials.
  • Support process improvement initiatives that enhance program effectiveness, administrative efficiency, and user experience.
  • Participate in compensation projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in compensation, HR operations, HR analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with HR systems and compensation data preferred.
  • Experience supporting compensation, HR, payroll, or workforce reporting activities considered an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, charts, and data validation.
  • Experience working with large datasets and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, preferably Workday, is an asset.
  • Ability to prepare reports and summarize data clearly and accurately.
  • Experience with using AI tools (i.e. Gemini, Co-pilot) in excel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

The pay range for this position is between $43,900.00 - $49,500.00
