Company Manager

Steppenwolf Theatre Company is seeking candidates for the full-time position of Company Manager to work as part of the General Management Team. This position reports to the Associate General Manager and collaborates closely with the rest of the General Management and Production Office; General Manager, Production Manager, Assistant Production Manager, and Production and General Management Administrator. This position generally works in the office, M-F from 9am-5pm, but also requires occasional weekend or evening hours in support of the production process and artist travel/housing needs.

Areas of Responsibility

• Manage travel and housing for all guest artists, ensemble members, and staff including arranging accommodations, booking travel, building/communicating itineraries, coordinating changes, and processing reimbursements.
• Provide logistical support to guest artists including creating/maintaining welcome packets and helping with day-to-day needs like transportation, doctors’ appointments, grocery trips, etc.
• Assisting General Manager in season planning and budgeting process.
• Manage comp and house seat requests for artists in Tessitura.
• Maintain relationships with corporate housing and apartments, coordinate apartment cleaning schedules, and ensure apartments are well maintained.
• Collaborate with Development Department to manage hotel/airline partnerships and occasional donor travel needs.
• Collaborate with Production Management team on planning and execution of supporting company morale through each phase of the production process.

Qualifications: Successful candidates will have:

• Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse range of collaborators and creative processes.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with great attention to detail.
• Creative problem solving and a general curiosity/openness to continual learning and growth.
• Commitment to working with diverse groups in terms of gender expression, race, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, class, and immigrant status.
• Ability to quickly pick up and learn how to navigate union rules and protocols. Experience working with Actors’ Equity Association is preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift heavy objects.

Desired Qualifications

• 1-3 years of working in theater production, performing arts, events management, or similar field in either a professional or educational setting.
• Basic computer skills (including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Calendar and Dropbox) with the ability to adapt and adopt new software and computer systems. Advanced Excel experience (including working with formulas) and experience with Tessitura is preferred but not required.

Compensation

This is a Full-Time exempt position with a salary range of $54,572 - $56,500 per year with excellent benefit package, including medical, dental, vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, vacation pay, paid sick time, personal days, Ventra transit benefit program, employee assistance program and 401(k) matching retirement program.
