Job Description

THE ROLE

The Community Support Worker (CSW) Social Support assists clients whilst on day trips or short breaks in the community through the Kites Program.

Please note shifts starts will either be Bibra Lake (South) or Wangara (North)

This is a part-time role, working 32 hours per fortnight:

Week 1 – Monday – Friday 8am to 4pm

Week 2 - Monday – Friday 8am to 4pm

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and plan efficient travel routes; proactively anticipating traffic and time management in accordance with the service attendance sheet
  • Driving Amana Living vehicles (10 seater or 7 seater vehicles) and assisting with mobilising and transferring clients –moving clients from place to place whilst in the community
  • Provide professional, courteous, and safe transportation to clients and staff in line with the program requirements
  • Be alert and aware of and provide assistance with client’s personal needs during transportation
  • Assists with mobilising and transferring clients – moving clients from place to place whilst in the community
  • Ensure clients maintain adequate hydration and nutrition by providing assistance as needed
  • Actively engage and work collaboratively with other team members to encourage client social interaction and positive and enjoyable outings
  • Responds to additional client care needs and emergency situations
  • Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the bus on a daily basis
  • Ensure that seat belts and mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walking frames and walking sticks are securely positioned
  • Notify Service Coordinator of scheduled service and maintenance requirements and concerns

ABOUT YOU

  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Confidence to take initiative whilst being aware of own limitations
  • Sensitivity and maturity to provide personal care to another person(s)
  • Creative problem-solving skills when working independently

Essential Criteria

  • A valid WA “C Class” licence
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance (within 6-months validity)
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical and reference checks
  • Certificate III Community Services (Aged Care Work)
  • Current 2026 Flu vaccination
