Catholic Social Services is currently recruiting for a Settlement Counsellor (37.5 hours/week) in Red Deer that is fluent in Spanish language.
This is a temporary contract position with a contract end date of August 31, 2027.

We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and culturally sensitive Settlement Counselor to support Temporary Foreign Workers and Refugee Claimants in their transition to life in Canada. This role involves one-on-one support, group facilitation, and community outreach to ensure clients are informed, connected, and empowered as they navigate settlement challenges.

Job Duties:
• Provide individualized settlement counseling and needs assessments for TFWs and refugee claimants.
• Assist clients with information about essential services such as health care, housing, employment, legal aid, and education.
• Facilitate workshops and information sessions on topics such as immigration processes, tenant rights, and community resources.
• Support clients in navigating complex systems and advocate on their behalf when necessary.
• Collaborate with community partners, government agencies, and service providers.
• Maintain accurate and timely case notes, records, and statistical data in accordance with program and funder requirements.
• Participate in outreach activities to engage hard-to-reach populations and promote available services.
• Stay informed on policy changes affecting TFWs and refugee claimants.
• Knowledge of the Spanish language is a requirement
What This Job Requires:
• Diploma or degree in Human Services/Social Sciences/Social Work or equivalent
• 2 years of experience working with newcomers to Canada
• Proficient with computer software including Microsoft Office and have the ability to learn new programs
• Certification through AAISA is considered an asset
• Clear and Current Drivers Abstract
• A vehicle and valid class 5 driver's license – requirement to transport clients in your personal vehicle
• Proof of Vehicle Insurance showing $2 million liability coverage
• Proof of Vehicle Registration for insured vehicle
• Vulnerable Sector Check from local RCMP or city police detachment
• Child Intervention Record Check
• In addition to English, you are required to be fluent in Spanish language
