Examples of duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  1. Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for assigned department program.
  2. Establish schedules and methods for providing assigned program services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
  3. Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
  4. Participate in the development and implementation of departmental contractual agreements to include site visits, vendor audits, and monitoring reviews.
  5. Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
  6. Coordinate and oversee various assigned programs; enhance collaboration and coordinate among participants.
  7. Review existing and proposed ordinances and policies relative to assigned area of responsibility; prepare recommendations for supervisory staff.
  8. Participate in the selection and hiring of assigned program staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
  9. Participate in the preparation and administration of assigned program budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.
  10. Prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities of assigned programs.
  11. Research and develop partnerships with various communities related to community services and educational initiatives.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of social service programs.
  2. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the social sciences or related field; and

Three (3) years of community services program experience; and

To include one (1) year supervisory or technical lead experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.

Supplemental information

Environmental:
Office and field environment; travel from site to site; exposure to computer screens.

Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time; operating motorized vehicles.
