Job Summary

Community Service & Civic Engagement (CSCE) is a part of Education Innovation in the Office of the Chancellor and plays an integral role in meaningfully engaging students and staff with communities in Boston and beyond. For students, community engagement offers critical experiential learning opportunities that allow them to understand and have impact in the world. This team oversees a robust suite of community engagement programs and offers trainings, reflections, and consultations. With an asset-based lens to community engagement and a commitment to strong reciprocal community partnerships, CSCE facilitates meaningful experiences for students, staff, and community partners.

The Operations Manager leads the operational infrastructure that enables CSCE to advance its mission at scale. This position develops and implements the operational, logistical, and administrative systems that drive program delivery across the full team. The Operations Manager directs logistics for CSCE programs and events, establishes and optimizes office systems, stewards program budgets, and serves as the strategic operational resource for the team. This role reports to the Director of CSCE and partners collaboratively with all CSCE staff to build a well-functioning, efficient, and mission-aligned office.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Events and Program Logistics:

• Direct operational logistics for CSCE-wide events and programs, including travel arrangements, room reservations, catering, supply procurement, and vendor coordination.
• Serve as the lead operational architect for signature programs such as Alternative Breaks, Global Service Week, and Volunteer Fairs.
• Develop and implement replicable logistics frameworks that improve efficiency and scalability across the program portfolio

Budget Stewardship and Financial Management:

• Lead accurate and proactive tracking of CSCE program budgets in coordination with the Associate Director and Director.
• Direct purchases, reimbursements, and vendor payments in alignment with institutional policies.
• Develop and deliver regular budget reports, identify and escalate fiscal concerns, and drive grant-related financial compliance for AmeriCorps and other funded programs.

Office Management:

• Establish and maintain the operational systems that support the day-to-day functioning of the CSCE office, including supply management, scheduling coordination, and staff operational support.
• Develop onboarding frameworks for new staff and student workers to ensure consistent and efficient integration into team operations.

Student Worker Supervision:

• Recruit, hire, and direct 2-3 part-time student workers who support operational and administrative functions.
• Establish clear performance expectations, provide ongoing mentorship and feedback, and invest in the professional development of student staff.

Other CSCE Responsibilities:

• Contribute to office-wide and division-wide committees, staff meetings, trainings, retreats, and special events.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, higher education, or related field required
• 3-5 years of progressive experience in office management, program operations, or administrative coordination, preferably within a higher education or nonprofit setting
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement operational systems and manage competing priorities across a dynamic team environment
• Experience with budget stewardship and financial record-keeping. Experience with grant-related financial tracking a plus
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build collaborative relationships across a team and with external partners
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite; experience with Salesforce, WorkDay, and Concur preferred
• Demonstrated experience planning and executing large-scale events and programs

Expected Hiring Range:

$60,315.00 - $85,192.50

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
