Job Description

Starting wage: $22.50 per hour

This positions is part time after school, 2.5 hours per day.


Under general supervision and in accordance with District policies, procedures, and guidelines, the Site Instructor supervises an assigned group of children. The Site Instructor will help to provide the necessary physical and emotional care while carrying out developmental activities. The employee will help develop goals for the children, evaluate each child's progress, and is responsible for communicating with families.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must possess the ability to take direction and work cooperatively.

  1. Must possess the ability to supervise a group of children while attending to the immediate needs of one child.
  2. Must possess the ability to nurture children and implement age appropriate activities.
  3. Has prior experience working with youth.
  4. Able to resolve challenging situations productively and without personalization.
  5. Pays attention to detail and is able to multitask.
  6. Must pass a criminal background check.
  7. Has a valid driver's license or access to reliable transportation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, AND SKILLS:

  1. Has prior experience in after school and expanded learning programs, either in a school or a community based setting.
  2. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, lift, and carry 20 pounds of materials.
  3. Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in adverse weather situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Follow the direction of the site coordinator's management with regard to policies and procedures.
  2. Lead, participates in, and is responsible for program activities at the assigned site. This includes preparing materials for the activities, setting up the space, cleaning up afterwards, etc.
  3. Ensure that site appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment are maintained.
  4. Maintain confidentiality for families, students, and staff at all times.
  5. Maintain effective communication with the program leader and/or site coordinator. Must complete all paperwork including daily notes, accident and incident reports, and daily attendance records.
  6. Meet with families, youth, and community members; address concerns in a respectful, sensitive manner.
  7. Respect cultural diversity and create an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment.
  8. Ensure the safety and wellness of youth by upholding policies through the program's procedures.
  9. Participate in professional development and program related training as assigned.
  10. Show professionalism in all aspects of the position: timeliness, punctuality, attitude, attention to detail, integrity, and ability to positively interact with all our employees and stakeholders.
  11. Other responsibilities as assigned.
