New Settlement seeks a mission-driven Community School Director to lead our partnership with Claremont International High School (CIHS). The Community School model is built on the belief that student success depends on strong, collaborative relationships among schools, families, and community partners. At CIHS, this role is especially critical: as a school serving newly arrived immigrant and multilingual learners, the Director will lead efforts to integrate wraparound supports, foster student and family belonging, and expand learning opportunities that affirm culture, language, and identity.

This is a leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of education, youth development, and community organizing — a builder who can set vision, strengthen systems, and cultivate relationships across diverse stakeholders.

Job Duties include but not limited to

Strategic Leadership & Vision

• Set and implement a clear vision for Claremont’s Community School strategy aligned with New Settlement’s mission and CIHS’s goals.
• Lead planning and coordination across academic, social-emotional, and enrichment programs that promote student success and family engagement.
• Stay current on community school best practices and adapt them to the unique needs of immigrant and multilingual youth.

School & Community Partnerships

• Serve as the primary liaison between New Settlement, CIHS leadership, DOE partners, and community-based organizations.
• Build and manage strong partnerships with agencies and nonprofits that provide health, mental health, academic, workforce, and family services.
• Actively participate in School Leadership Team and Community School Team meetings.

Student Attendance & Engagement

• Lead attendance initiatives: identify chronically absent students, implement interventions, and track progress in weekly student success meetings.
• Partner with school staff and families to create a joyful, inclusive school climate where students feel supported and engaged.

Program & Staff Management

• Hire, supervise, and support a team of staff delivering community school services.
• Provide coaching, professional development, and performance feedback.
• Design and oversee extended-day programming, parent workshops, and youth development opportunities.

Data, Budget & Accountability

• Conduct needs assessments, analyze student and school data, and use results to guide strategy.
• Manage program budget, contracts, and MOUs; ensure compliance with DOE and funder requirements.
• Track and report progress on key outcomes and deliverables.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required (MSW, M.Ed, or related preferred).
• Minimum 3–5 years of leadership or program management experience in education, youth development, or community-based settings.
• Proven ability to build partnerships with schools, families, and community organizations.
• Experience working with immigrant, multilingual, and culturally diverse communities strongly preferred.
• Skilled in supervision, coaching, and staff development.
• Strong communication skills (bilingual Spanish/English highly preferred).
• Flexible schedule, including some evenings/weekends; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, school-based environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be cleared and maintain clearance throughout the duration of employment by DOE fingerprinting screening.

Employment is at will and employees will undergo 45- and 90-day check-ins during their 90-day probationary period.
