Position Overview:

The ideal candidate has strong networking, communication skills, team building, customer service skills, and organizational skills. This position is responsible for maintaining strategic partnerships and support of the department's daily activities. This includes but is not limited to obtaining and scheduling events and community outreach. Responds to written and telephone inquiries, requests and complaints from the public. Serves as a representative in the community through the development and maintenance of relationships with key community groups and external agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicate with individuals of various levels and assist with resolving issues.
  • It is the responsibility of the liaison to brainstorm and organize activities that help the court achieve its public relations goals.
  • Supports the court's goals by raising community awareness of available services and resources.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Design and manage create elements for community programs.
  • Make creative digital flyers, signage and social media posts. Help with creative setup and breakdown of community events.

Examples of duties

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in community engagement, social services, constituent services or a closely related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced level of proficiency in using a personal computer and common office software such as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Constant Contact, Adobe, and Canva.
  • This job requires knowledge and skills in local community and community population.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software.
  • Ability to work with diverse citizen's groups.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of people and organizations.
  • Ability and experience to balance multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work with members of the public and departmental team.
  • Demonstrates a can-do attitude and is resourceful.
  • Has the ability and willingness to travel as required.
  • Ability to adapt to changes.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines at once.
  • Great written and oral skills working with the public.

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidate must be familiar with areas of Northeast and East Harris County which includes North Channel, Channelview and Baytown.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Regular Full-time
  • While a standard day may be 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the candidate receiving this position will be expected to attend meetings and events on evenings and weekends.
  • Hours will be discussed during departmental interview.

Salary:

  • Depends on Qualifications
  • Based on 26 Pay Periods

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • This position is sedentary and field based.
  • Require the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend or stand as necessary.
  • Field work will require the physical ability to set up display booth (tent, banners, outreach materials) at indoor or outdoor venues in the community and exposed to different environmental conditions.

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
