The Opportunity:

We are looking for a vibrant and enthusiastic person who loves recreation, health and fitness to join our team as a Programs Coordinator.

You will be not only welcoming our members and potential new members in and letting them know about all the programs and services we offer while providing an excellent customer service in our front desk, but You will also coordinate some of our programs and make sure they are being delivered as expected.

Social sport leagues, indoor rock climbing and school holiday programs are just a few things you will get to coordinate in your role. You will plan, promote and train staff to promote a healthy lifestyle through activity to a diverse customer base!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and deliver a range of social sport opportunities for the Alice Springs community.
  • Coordinate and implement school holiday programs and activities, including both funded and non-funded initiatives, catering to all demographics.
  • Facilitate and manage group bookings for recreational activities and events.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance of the rock climbing wall, including equipment checks, cleaning, and route setting.
  • Ensure all recreational equipment is clean, functional, and properly stored.
  • Perform frontline duties such as customer service, member onboarding, general cleaning, and following correct opening and closing procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of program funding applications.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure they are delivered effectively and meet expected outcomes.
  • Support staff development through training, mentoring, and supervision to ensure safe and consistent program delivery.
  • Promotion of programs via a variety of channels including social medias.

ABOUT YOU:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certificate IV or higher in Sport & Recreation, Community Services, Education, Events, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating community programs and/or recreational activities.
  • Experience coordinating group activities, events, or bookings in a recreational or community setting.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role, including staff or volunteer training and mentoring.
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) and National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain).

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a diverse range of participants, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply risk management principles and ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Competency in basic administrative tasks, including scheduling, reporting, and budget tracking.
  • Familiarity with program funding processes, including grant applications and reporting (preferred).

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
