He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Auckland Council’s Licensing and Compliance department has an opportunity for a Community, Partnerships and Engagement Advisor to join the Animal Management team.

This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity, working 40 hours per week, based in the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki area.

This is a critical role focused on strengthening relationships between Auckland Council and the community, with a particular focus on reducing dog-related harm and nuisance.

You could expect to work on:

• Developing and delivering community engagement initiatives, workshops, events and educational sessions.
• Building partnerships with Māori and Pasifika communities, Local Boards, community groups and key stakeholders.
• Identifying community issues and supporting the development of practical solutions to reduce dog-related harm and nuisance.
• Developing and delivering training for Animal Management staff, including cultural competency and public presentation skills.
• Providing community insights, reporting and advice to support engagement strategies and improve confidence in Animal Management services.

He kōrero mōu: About you

This role requires experience in the community engagement and stakeholder partnership space. You will have experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders within large, complex organisations.

We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements:

• Strong experience in community engagement, stakeholder management or a related field, with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse communities.
• Experience developing and delivering community engagement programmes, workshops, events or educational initiatives.
• Experience working with Māori and/or Pasifika communities, with a strong understanding of cultural protocols and culturally responsive engagement.
• Experience delivering training, presentations or community education, with confidence communicating with a wide range of audiences.
• A full, clean NZ driver licence and the ability to travel across Auckland as required.

A relevant tertiary qualification in communications, community development, social work, public administration or a related discipline would be advantageous, but we place greater value on your relevant experience, community connections and ability to make a difference.

This role has a remuneration range of $88,528 - $104,150 per annum.
Our employer Kiwisaver contribution is additional to base salary offered.
