Job Description

The Community Outreach Specialist is a strategic, field-based role responsible for building and sustaining a robust referral network that drives patient access to ACP’s Psychology, ABA, SLP, and OT services across all ACP markets. This position operates with a high degree of autonomy in executing against departmental goals set by the VP of Growth and Development, requiring strong initiative, deep knowledge of ACP’s clinical and operational model, and a positive, energizing presence in the community. The ideal candidate is forward-thinking, self-directed, and capable of identifying and capitalizing on outreach opportunities that position ACP as the premier autism services provider in each market.

**Must live in MA, NH, RI, VT, or NY**

What We’re Looking For

The candidate who succeeds in this role will be someone who sees the full picture of what ACP is building, takes ownership of their territory without being managed to it, and inspires confidence among referral partners and internal colleagues alike. We are seeking a candidate who is:

  • Strategically minded – able to identify high-value referral opportunities, prioritize territory activity, and contribute to the broader outreach strategy beyond transactional relationship management
  • Autonomous and accountable – capable of translating high-level departmental goals into a self-directed weekly and monthly work plan, with minimal hand-holding
  • Clinically and operationally fluent – possesses working knowledge of ABA therapy, interdisciplinary care models, and ACP’s intake and service delivery processes to credibly represent ACP to professionals
  • Energizing and inspiring – brings a genuinely positive attitude that reflects well on ACP’s brand, motivates referral partners to prioritize ACP, and contributes to a healthy internal culture
  • Detail oriented – maintains accurate records, meets activity targets consistently, and follows through on every commitment made to referral sources and internal stakeholders

Essential Functions

Referral Development & Territory Management

  • Proactively build and expand a referral network of physicians, pediatricians, psychologists, schools, early intervention programs, and community partners across all ACP markets
  • Meet or exceed monthly targets for in-person visits, phone/email contacts, and center tours — targets set in collaboration with the VP of Growth and Development
  • Drive inbound provider leads post-diagnosis and ensure seamless warm handoffs to the intake team
  • Identify and prioritize high-yield referral sources within each market; develop territory-specific outreach plans aligned to ACP’s growth goals
  • Gather and analyze competitive intelligence to inform ACP’s positioning in each market

Clinical & Brand Representation

  • Develop deep familiarity with ACP’s full service model (ABA, SLP, OT, Psychology) and intake process to serve as a credible, knowledgeable ambassador to clinical referral sources
  • Provide ongoing education to medical professionals about ACP’s services, clinical approach, and access process
  • Represent ACP at community events, health fairs, and professional association meetings; support and staff ACP-hosted outreach events
  • Suggest refinements to marketing materials (print, digital, social) based on observed field needs and referrer feedback

Internal Collaboration & Communication

  • Build strong working relationships with BCBAs, Family Liaisons, and the intake team to ensure smooth referral-to-enrollment transitions
  • Proactively flag referral source concerns, access barriers, or market-specific issues
  • Collaborate with the intake team on referral conversion trends and identify patterns that warrant outreach strategy adjustments

Tracking & Administration

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in ACP’s outreach CRM/database for all contacts, activities, and pipeline status
  • Complete and submit mileage reimbursement documentation in a timely manner
  • Provide regular activity and outcomes reporting

Competencies

  • Strategic thinking and territory planning
  • Self-management and autonomous execution against goals
  • Clinical literacy – Psychology, ABA, interdisciplinary services, and behavioral health access
  • Relationship building and consultative communication
  • Positive, professional presence that reflects ACP’s mission and culture
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite and CRM database management

Meeting Expectations

  • Weekly 1:1s with VP of Growth and Development
  • Monthly outreach team meetings and cross-functional touchpoints with intake and clinical leadership
  • Ad hoc meetings as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities

None at this time. Future supervisory scope may be added as the Outreach department grows.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid field-based position. Working hours are spent either in the community — physician offices, clinics, schools, and community venues — or in a working location to accomplish goals the same (time in ACP centers and remote administrative work).

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Able to lift up to 20 lbs.

Travel Required

  • Weekly / monthly travel within ACP markets as required

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Healthcare, Public Health, Communications, or related field preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in healthcare, provider relations, or a sales role promoting health services/products preferred
  • Prior experience in ABA, behavioral health, or pediatric services preferred
  • Demonstrated track record of building referral networks and meeting or exceeding activity/outcome targets

Additional Requirements

  • Must reside within or in close proximity to an ACP market
  • Must have reliable personal transportation for field activity
  • Must be available during normal business hours
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite and CRM platforms
  • Employees in this role are considered essential workers as part of the critical infrastructure
