Job Description

Hiring Range: $108,896 - $178,901

The purpose of this role to support home ownership in diverse and underserved markets within Eastern’s footprint by building and utilizing programs designed for low/moderate income borrowers in primarily underserved communities.

Market Territory: New Bedford/Fall River/Providence, RI

  • Bank’s lead representative/driver in promoting homeownership as the foundation of wealth building within the diverse and underserved markets. Build relationships with non-profits, housing agencies, and local and municipal government housing authorities.
  • Take loan applications from potential home buyers and oversee the process flow from application to decision/closing.
  • Identify appropriate mortgage products and services to offer within the diverse community to develop clear and concise lending product descriptions. Oversee implementation of products within the Bank. Train sales and operational staff on product parameters and process flow.
  • Make recommendations to Senior Management as to what products should be offered. Advise senior management on regulatory guidance and developments that impact lending in underserved communities.
  • Training, mentoring, and coaching a team member who will operate as a sales administrator to underserved market initiatives.
  • Develop and implement reports for market share and geographic penetration analysis, specifically reports on penetration in underserved census tracts.

The incumbent in this position identifies and resolves problems in an efficient and timely manner; gathers and analyzes information accurately, develops solutions when needed, works well in group problem solving settings, and displays reasonable thought processes even when dealing with emotional topics and situations. When confronted with challenging situations, the incumbent must understand when and how to seek counsel and guidance of co-workers and managers.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year College or University or equivalent combination of training and experience;
  • Five years or more of mortgage sales experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and close over $20mm in mortgage production derived from external sources;
  • Must maintain active NMLS registration.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Demonstrated Sales ability;
  • Strong communication, organization, presentation, and time management skills;
  • Proven business development skills;
  • Must be detail oriented, have reasonable computer skills and a working knowledge of Excel, and Word;
  • Additionally, solid knowledge of secondary market guidelines coupled with affordable housing programs and policies—MHP/Masshousing/FHLB, etc.;
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
