Who We Are

Established in 1986, City in the Community is Manchester City’s official charity. We support people across Manchester by empowering healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.

Within our Community Mentoring team, we deliver programmes that use mentoring, education and sport to engage young people, helping them build confidence, resilience and positive life skills. The Role

You will lead the delivery of the City Inspires programme across secondary schools in Greater Manchester, supporting young people aged 11–16 to build confidence, improve behaviour and raise aspirations through engaging mentoring and education sessions.

Day to day, you will mentor participants, monitor individual progress and work closely with schools, delivery coaches and colleagues to ensure programmes achieve positive outcomes. You will also support the planning and development of the programme, monitor KPIs and maintain strong relationships with education partners.

Alongside programme delivery, you will act as a role model for delivery coaches, contribute to the continuous improvement of the programme and help embed safeguarding and organisational policies across all activities.

What You'll Bring

Experience delivering community or sports programmes for young people aged 11–16.

A Level 2 Coaching qualification in any sport. A Youth Work or Mentoring qualification would be an advantage.

Knowledge of youth work principles and community engagement programmes.

Experience working with schools and education partners to support young people.

Excellent communication, presentation and Microsoft Office skills.

A creative, resilient and collaborative approach, with a passion for inspiring young people to achieve their potential.

A full, clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, with the ability to travel across Greater Manchester.

Why Choose Us

Guided by our values of being caring, inclusive, transformative and youth-led, we are committed to creating an environment where our team feel supported, valued and able to make a meaningful difference through the work they do every day.

As part of our team, you will receive 26 days’ annual leave plus a day off for your birthday and an annual discretionary bonus. You will also have access to a Health Cash Plan, Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 GP support, and a company pension and life assurance.

You can enjoy a range of additional benefits, including discounted match tickets, savings in the City Store, a free City+ subscription, stadium tour discounts, and wider retail and lifestyle offers.
