About the role

Make a real difference in our new Melbourne CBD service. Deliver culturally responsive nursing care across our drop-in space and medical clinic, providing assessments, care planning, health education, and multidisciplinary support within a harm reduction framework. This position offers a blended model, with 2 days in the clinic and 3 days supporting clients in the drop-in service.

Community Health Nurse - Drop In

Your duties include:

  • Build trust and rapport with clients to engage them in care, providing evidence-based nursing assessment, treatment, health monitoring and education in the drop in space and clinic environment
  • Act within the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia codes of conduct, professional standards, guidelines, legislation, and regulations
  • Work in partnership with the medical team and other members of the multidisciplinary teams
  • Facilitate appropriate referrals and warm handovers to cohealth programs and external health and support services

Our ideal candidate:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia through AHPRA
  • Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience
  • Demonstrated client-focused approach in provision of nursing care in the community
  • Understanding of harm reduction principles

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), a Working with Children Check (WWCC), complete a Pre-Employment Declaration Form, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination.

Successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza within 12 weeks of commencement [B]. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
