POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The role will provide general support to various services in the Community and Family Services setting of a Ministry Unit.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.
• Work in a team setting supporting various tasks and activities.
• Maintain strict confidentially of all matters pertaining to the program participants.
• Adhere to policies and procedures relating to the programs.
• May assist with different basic administrative tasks – photocopy activities, greeting visitors, supporting reception, forwarding visitors, etc. as required.
• May keep a log of different activities.
• Assists in the organization, Maintenance:, and general cleanliness of the office/waiting area.
• Provide general information to visitors.
• Collaborate with Community Ministries Manager to ensure effective program delivery
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
Clarification of Information. Conducts Routine Interactions.
Internal: MU’s leadership and staff, donors, volunteers.
External: Clients, donors, general public, social services organizations, service clubs
MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports directly to the Community Services Manager.
Direct reports: Community Services Manager
FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:
• Minor material responsibility ( proper file handling, etc.)
• Regular responsibility for minor financial matters and for wise use of own resources.
• May be authorized to handle cash, during major campaigns.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• This is a temporary position.
• Regular working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 1 hour lunch break.
• Working environment is typically in the Community Services building in generally agreeable conditions and some outdoor duties.
• Local travel may be required.
• Flexibility in scheduling isrequired, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements. Some work over weekends and evenings may be required.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• May deal with upset people or challenging behaviours.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
• Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
• Completion of a formal post-secondary program of two academic years
• An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.
• CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.
Experience and Knowledge:
• Two years of relevant experience
• Experience in office administration
• Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL)
Skills and Capabilities:
• Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
• Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting;attention to detail, problemsolvingand analytical skills.
• Ability tomaintain information inconfidence and exercise good judgement.
Exhibit good listening skills, havestrong oral/written communication skills.
This is a temporary fixed term employment.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $23.27 to $29.09 with a maximum of $34.90.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
