Community Engagement Worker – Be Part of Transforming Lives

Make a real impact in your community We are looking for a passionate and community-minded individual to help us deliver meaningful, needs-based services and create accessible faith pathways that support wholeness and wellbeing for people in our local area.

This hands-on and people-focused position, you will oversee the delivery of community services, build strong volunteer teams, develop programs, and foster partnerships that strengthen our mission. You will play a key role in ensuring our community feels welcomed, supported and connected.

You are calling in action

· Lead the delivery of Salvos Connect, EPA services and Christmas Cheer

· Manage admin and compliance (SAMIS, reporting, approvals, Workday)

· Recruit, train and empower volunteers

· Develop programs such as the Positive Lifestyle Program

· Build partnerships with local organisations

· Create welcoming spaces and connect people to TSA services

· Support fundraising campaigns and explore grant opportunities

Who we are praying for

Someone who:

  • Has experience in community engagement within a faith‑based or not‑for‑profit organisation
  • Has experience developing and delivering community‑based programs
  • Strong communication skills with community partners and community members
  • Tertiary qualification in Community Services/Social Work (minimum Certificate level)
  • Current driver’s licence
  • National Criminal History Check
  • Working With Children Check


The opportunity

  • Part-time (6 hours per week) for 12months with a possibility of extension
  • Role based in Armidale
  • Circa 38.65 per hour + superannuation (salary packaging for eligible employees)
  • A rhythm of ministry that includes Sundays and midweek community life

About The Royal Children's Hospital

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville. Together, we are committed to improving the health outcomes for children today and in the future.

In 2016–17, more than 85,654 children attended our Emergency Department, 322,291 specialist clinic appointments were held which was almost 70,000 more than the previous year, more than 17,000 surgeries were performed and more than 48,552 children were admitted to our wards.
