About the Role

Djirra delivers a comprehensive program of Early Intervention and Prevention (EIP) workshops, developed, facilitated, and evaluated by Aboriginal women, for Aboriginal girls and women. These workshops run across Melbourne, regional Victoria, and at the Koori Women's Place (KWP) at Djirra's Head Office in Abbotsford.

We're looking for a Community Engagement Support Officer to join our Community Engagement (CE) team on a full time basis. You'll play a hands on role supporting the planning, delivery, and evaluation of our EIP and KWP programs and community events. Some evening workshops and travel outside normal business hours will be required, including occasional overnight stays.

What You'll Do

  • Support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of EIP and KWP programs
  • Co-facilitate Young Luv workshops alongside appropriately trained Djirra staff
  • Attend and support delivery of the Sister's Day Out Program across Victoria
  • Attend community events and promote Djirra's services to Aboriginal community groups, agencies, and families across Victoria
  • Work collaboratively with EIP Coordinators to identify resources, supplies, and materials needed for successful events, workshops, and activities
  • Conduct regular audits of EIP workshop stock and report to upper management
  • Manage and maintain website content, including flyers and updates
  • Distribute promotional material and manage participant registrations across EIP programs
  • Collate, transport, set up, and pack down workshop materials and resources at sites
  • Welcome participants and provide respectful, open, and helpful service to all women engaging with CE activities
  • Maintain accurate workshop data, including attendance, evaluations, and reporting documents
  • Plan and contribute engaging social media content, as directed by the Communications and Engagement Coordinator, and update Canva tiles as needed
  • Act as a cultural support and resource as required

Who You Are

  • You have an understanding of family violence and the drivers of violence against women
  • You bring prior experience working with Aboriginal organisations, communities, and individuals
  • You're confident with public speaking and have experience planning workshops, events, or gatherings
  • Experience working with Aboriginal women and girls is a strong plus
  • You form genuine, trusted connections with Aboriginal communities and communicate sensitively with people who may have experienced trauma
  • You're able to consistently work flexible hours, including weeknights, with occasional overnight travel
