Education and Work Experience

  1. Minimum of a BA level College in related areas.
  2. Work/Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of office-related work experience required.

Scope of Position

The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for managing an assigned portfolio of donors and actively contributing to the Boise Corps’ annual fundraising goal of a minimum of $500,000 Working in partnership with the Community Engagement & Development Director and coordinating with Divisional Headquarters (DHQ) Development staff, this role focuses on donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and data-driven relationship management to advance individual and corporate giving.

This position is ideal for a relationship-oriented fundraising professional who is motivated by revenue goals, enjoys donor engagement, and is committed to advancing mission impact through philanthropy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Must be congenial and maintain professionalism under all circumstances

Must be proficient at Microsoft office.

Must be organized and be able to work under multiple deadlines – distributing workflow to maintain optimal efficiency.

Must be able to pass MV check and have a valid Driver’s license

Must be able to pass Salvation Army background check

Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Fundraising & Donor Management

  • Manage an assigned donor caseload with responsibility for cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention.
  • Actively contribute toward an annual individual fundraising goal of $500,000, tracking progress and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Conduct donor meetings, tours, calls, and personalized outreach to strengthen relationships and grow giving.
  • Develop and implement individualized donor engagement strategies aligned with donor interests and organizational priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for gift upgrades, recurring giving, and new donor acquisition within assigned portfolio.

Annual Giving & Campaign Alignment

  • Support the execution of annual giving strategies, including direct mail, digital appeals, sponsorships, and seasonal campaigns.
  • Coordinate with DHQ Development staffto ensure alignment with divisional fundraising strategies, timelines, messaging, and donor protocols.
  • Collaborate with DHQ on donor assignments, moves management, prospect research, and solicitation strategies as appropriate.
  • Adhere to Salvation Army fundraising standards, policies, and reporting requirements.

Stewardship & Donor Communications

  • Ensure timely and meaningful donor acknowledgment, recognition, and impact reporting in coordination with DHQ and Corps leadership.
  • Maintain consistent communication with donors through personalized updates, impact stories, and progress reports.
  • Partner with program staff and DHQ resources to gather outcomes and stories that demonstrate donor impact.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate donor records, contact reports, and fundraising activity within donor management systems.
  • Track donor interactions, pipeline movement, and revenue performance against goals.
  • Prepare reports, forecasts, and updates for the Community Engagement & Development Director and DHQ as required.

Collaboration & Representation

  • Work collaboratively with Corps Officers, development staff, DHQ Development personnel, and program teams to align fundraising efforts with mission delivery.
  • Represent The Salvation Army with professionalism, integrity, and hospitality in all donor interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and strategic fundraising goals of The Salvation Army Boise Corps.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 40lbs on a regular basis.

Must be able to stand, sit, twist and stretch on a regular basis
