Job Description

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Community Educator is a non-exempt position responsible for developing, coordinating, and providing presentations and training in Pinellas, Pasco and Hillsborough Counties. This includes a focus on reducing risk factors and increasing healthy behaviors via community education.

  • Utilize social marketing strategies to disseminate information on medication management and the prevention of substance abuse.
  • Identify appropriate sites in the community and schedule educational presentations.
  • Adhere to guidelines of adopted Evidence-Based Pracces (EBPs) and ensure program fidelity.
  • Research, develop, and deliver new presentaons aimed at promoting healthy behaviors and reducing substance abuse risk factors.
  • Participate actively in outreach events to raise awareness and engagement.
  • Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to expand the reach and impact of educational programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through feedback and data collection.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the Senior Director of Behavioral Health.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services or related field
  • Previous experience with mental health/substance abuse.
  • Experience in public speaking or teaching preferred.
  • Computer experience, which includes Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Must obtain/maintain CPR and first-aid training within 90 days of employment.
  • Must use personal vehicle for community-based visits.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with auto insurance coverage.
