Job Description

Burke Shire Council is seeking a motivated and experienced professional to lead our economic development, communications and community engagement functions.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO, this position leads economic development initiatives, industry growth and investment, and Council’s communications and engagement.

You will:

• Lead and implement Council’s Economic Development Strategy

• Facilitate industry development and investment opportunities

• Manage Council’s communications, digital presence and brand

• Coordinate grants and funding opportunities

• Build strong stakeholder relationships across business, government and community

• Oversee community engagement initiatives and events

What we’re looking for

We are seeking a highly capable and driven individual who can operate both strategically and operationally in a small, remote Council environment.

You will bring:

• Highly developed communication skills across written and verbal formats

• Project management experience delivering economic or community outcomes

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Highly developed interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills

• A proactive, solutions-focused approach

• Understanding of community engagement and economic development practices

Mandatory requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated experience

• Current Class C Driver Licence

About the benefits

This is a full time 4-year contract position with a competitive remuneration package, including:

• Base salary: $135,000

• Super: $16,200

• Rent free accommodation
