Under the direction of the Associate Director of Housing and Residential Education, the Community Director is a full-time, live-in, position that provides leadership and direction to a first year student, residential building of fewer than 325 students. The incumbent is responsible for managing all aspects of a residence hall including supervision of student staff, management of building facilities, developmental contact with residents and overseeing judicial, educational and social outreach.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
• Effective interpersonal communication skills
• Knowledge of counseling practices
• Administrative ability and supervisory skills
• Ability to work with, manage and train large groups
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Student Personnel or related field preferred • Ability to work with diverse populations • Knowledge of and commitment to maintaining a student development focus in their building
Experience with Residence Hall Association ( RHA)
Preferred Education/Experience
• Master’s Degree in Student Personnel or Higher Education
