Community Coach/Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Marshall and Fulton Co, Indiana

Location: Bremen and Rochester, IN, USA
Hourly Rate: $17.18 - $19.00 (including a $1.82 weekend shift differential)
Type: Full-Time 30 hours a week. Monday-Thursday Flexible


Are you passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities? Join Cardinal Services as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and help individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities enhance their socialization and independent living skills. DSPs play a crucial role in assisting individuals to become active participants in their communities by leveraging their strengths, interests, and abilities. This position involves providing support in various settings, which may include personal care, daily living activities, job coaching, skill development, advocacy, and communication assistance, all aimed at helping individuals achieve their personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist individuals with disabilities to choose, plan and take part in community-based activities, including recreation, volunteering, classes, social events, and employment.
  • Introduce new activities to individuals in their community.
  • Support and assist individuals with disabilities to develop socialization skills. Help individuals to participate at heir desired level in clubs, organizations and community activities.
  • Development and implement community-based calendars for both individual and group activities.
  • Assist individuals in meeting their outcomes as outlined in their ISP and completing corresponding documentation as assigned by their supervisor. Assure the completion, accuracy and thoroughness of reports and documentation.
  • Support individuals in participating in activities at home and within the community.
  • Implement and document program plans as directed by the Community Living Manager.

Qualifications:

  • A genuine desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
  • The employee will serve as a positive role model for individual, fellow community members and employers, modeling appropriate work skills, behavior, and social interaction.
  • Supportive personality with a strong work ethic.
  • No previous experience required; we offer comprehensive training.
  • Valid driver's license and current auto insurance.
  • Ability to safely transport individuals and work in a Human Services setting with favorable background screens.
