The community program coordinator implements, manages, and evaluates client-centred programs in an integrated Corps/ Community Services setting, ensuring programs meet community needs in a culturally diverse context.

About the role 

As a Community & Centre Coordinator, this is your opportunity to lead a vibrant community hub, delivering inclusive programs, partnerships and initiatives that respond to local needs and strengthen community connection. Coordinate community programs, partnerships, volunteers and major initiatives across the Auburn Corps & Community Centre.

Reporting to the Corps Leader, this is a permanent, full-time role based onsite in Auburn, NSW.

How you will make an impact 

  • Coordinate community programs and the day-to-day activities of a busy community centre, ensuring a safe, welcoming and well-managed environment.
  • Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of community programs and services that respond to local needs.
  • Recruit, support and develop volunteers, staff and community participants to maximise engagement and impact.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with community organisations, schools, churches, government agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee community events, fundraising initiatives, referrals and support programs that strengthen community connection and wellbeing.
  • Monitor compliance, reporting, grant opportunities and operational systems to support effective and sustainable service delivery.

What you will bring 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Business Administration, Community Development or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of qualifications and demonstrated experience.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating community programs, people and partnerships, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a community, not-for-profit or customer-focused environment.
  • Sound understanding of Work Health and Safety, safeguarding, risk management and compliance requirements in a community services setting.
  • Strong administrative, organisational and communication skills, including report writing and record management.
  • Ability to work within and support The Salvation Army's mission, values and Christian ethos through professional practice, community engagement and service delivery.
  • A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is required
  • Drivers Licence (if required for tool of trade car or pool car access)
  • A Valid NSW Working With Children Check

Conditions

Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Level 4

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
