Job Description

ABOUT ASPIRE
Aspire Public Schools operates a network of high-performing, college preparatory charter schools serving TK-12 scholars in communities across California. Founded in 1998—in an effort to transform the inequitable racial, social, and gender outcomes that our communities persist through—Aspire is one of the largest and most forward-thinking open-enrollment public charter school systems in the nation.
Our purpose is to prepare our scholars for success in college, career, and life. At Aspire, we set a foundation for our scholars to gain knowledge, skills, and power to access and make choices for their families and post-secondary lives. Every day, our community of students, families, teachers, and staff comes together to learn, work, and play in an environment grounded in our values of Bienestar (Well-Being), Culture of Belonging, Community Partnership, Agency & Self-Determination, and Joy.
The Community and Family Outreach Coordinator supports the implementation of the Community Schools strategy by strengthening family connection, engagement, and access to community-based supports.
This role embeds a strong focus on family connection and individualized support, ensuring all families are meaningfully engaged and able to access the resources and opportunities available through the Community Schools model.
The Coordinator may report directly to the Principal, Community School Director, or Expanded Learning Director, depending on site structure. Regardless of reporting structure, the role maintains a consistent focus on family outreach, relationship-building, and access to supports, and does not assume supervisory, program design, or strategic leadership responsibilities assigned to site leadership roles.
The Coordinator works under the direction of site leadership or a designated Community Schools lead, and in alignment with regional teams, to support the day-to-day implementation of efforts aligned to the four pillars of the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP):
  • Integrated Student Supports
  • Family and Community Engagement
  • Collaborative Leadership and Practices
  • Extended Learning Time and Opportunities
At sites without a Community School Director, the Principal or designee serves as the Community Schools lead for purposes of alignment and oversight.
This position is grant-funded and is designed to enhance and expand existing services, not replace or assume core school site responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Family Connection, Support & Engagement
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for families, building trusting and culturally responsive relationships
    • Conduct proactive outreach, particularly to families experiencing barriers to engagement
    • Provide individualized support by helping families navigate school systems and access available resources
    • Respond to family questions and concerns by connecting them to appropriate school staff or community partners
    • Support families in advocating for their students in partnership with school staff
    • Recruit and support family participation in events, workshops, and leadership opportunities
    • Co-facilitate family engagement activities in collaboration with school staff and partners
    • Maintain consistent communication to increase family trust, connection, and engagement
    • This role does not provide clinical, case management, or administrative services, but instead connects families to appropriate supports within the school and community systems.
  • Integrated Student Supports
    • Collaborate with school staff to identify student and family needs
    • Assist in connecting families to wraparound services coordinated through Community Schools partnerships
    • Support access to basic needs resources (e.g., food, housing, health services, technology)
    • Contribute to family-centered engagement efforts that reduce barriers to attendance and participation
    • Track and monitor referrals and connections to support follow-through
  • Collaborative Leadership & Participation
    • Support implementation of Community Schools efforts under the direction of site leadership or designated Community Schools lead
    • Encourage and support family participation in advisory groups, committees, and engagement opportunities
    • Assist with outreach related to surveys, listening sessions, and feedback opportunities
    • Help ensure families are informed and able to participate in shared decision-making structures
  • Extended Learning & Enrichment
    • Support outreach and communication to increase awareness of extended learning opportunities
    • Encourage participation in after-school, summer, and enrichment programs
    • Assist in coordinating family engagement during enrichment activities and events
  • Community Partnerships & Coordination
    • Support the day-to-day coordination and engagement of partnerships established by site leadership and regional teams
    • Assist with outreach and participation for community partner events, workshops, and services
    • Connect families to partner-provided resources and opportunities
    • Support documentation of participation and engagement for grant reporting
Additional:
