
POSITION: Communities In Schools (CIS) Site Coordinator – Itinerant
LOCATION: 0.5 FTE – Pocahontas County High School
0.5 FTE – Marlinton Middle School
REPORTS TO: Head Principal, Assistant Principal, Director of Attendance, Child Nutrition, Assessment, CTE and Student Affairs
EVALUATION: Performance shall be evaluated in accordance with West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5310 and applicable Pocahontas County Schools evaluation procedures
FLSA STATUS: Exempt

Term of employment: Effective upon Board approval for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year. The annual term of employment shall be 200 days, subject to continued funding and program needs.
In accordance with West Virginia Code §18A-2-7b, Pocahontas County Schools will be implementing the "Stay Put Rule." The WV Legislature has determined that frequent teacher changes—especially in elementary grades—are not in the best interest of students. As a result, the Legislature intends to minimize personnel transfers between professional positions within the 20 days leading up to the start of the instructional term. However, the county board, based on the superintendent's recommendation, may approve filling a position during this period if it is deemed to serve the best interest of the students.
The Communities In Schools (CIS) Site Coordinator is responsible for implementing the Communities In Schools model of Integrated Student Supports within assigned school(s). The Site Coordinator works collaboratively with school administrators, staff, families, community partners, and service providers to identify and address barriers to student success. Through a comprehensive system of prevention, intervention, and support services, the Site Coordinator helps improve student attendance, behavior, academic achievement, engagement, and overall well-being.
