Overview

The Lead for Communications & Thought Leadership, EMEA will own regional internal and external communications across EMEA. This person will translate the global communications strategy into locally relevant employee communications, leadership messaging, thought leadership, external positioning, event communications, and regional communications governance.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer and communications advisor who can partner with senior leaders, HR, Recruiting, Sales, Technology, Legal, Compliance, and regional teams to ensure communications are clear, credible, consistent, and appropriately governed.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Communications Strategy & Governance

  • Own the EMEA communications plan in partnership with the Head of Communications & Thought Leadership and Global Head of Marketing.
  • Translate firmwide positioning and messaging into regional communications that reflect local market, office, cultural, and business context.
  • Develop regional communications standards, approval processes, editorial planning, and stakeholder engagement models.
  • Ensure communications remain aligned with Legal, Compliance, HR, and firmwide messaging expectations.

Internal Communications & Leadership Support

  • Lead regional internal communications for employee updates, leadership messages, town halls, change communications, culture storytelling, and major regional initiatives.
  • Support EMEA leaders with talking points, Q&As, written messages, presentation narratives, manager cascades, and employee-facing materials.
  • Partner with HR and regional leadership on sensitive employee communications, growth-related updates, organisational changes, and employee engagement topics.
  • Build stronger connectivity between regional employee communications and Susquehanna’s broader external positioning and business priorities.

External Communications, Thought Leadership & Reputation Support

  • Identify regional thought leadership themes, executive platforms, event messaging opportunities, and external storytelling moments.
  • Draft and edit external narratives, speaker briefs, event materials, social copy, web content, media-ready materials, and talking points.
  • Partner with PR agency resources and global communications leadership on external visibility, reputation support, and issues preparedness.
  • Maintain strong judgment around what should and should not be communicated externally, especially around trading, technology, market structure, regulation, and proprietary information.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Operating Model

  • Partner closely with Content, Creative, Digital, Talent Brand, Client & Field Marketing, Recruiting, Sales, HR, Legal, Compliance, Technology, and regional stakeholders.
  • Create more predictable communications planning, intake, prioritisation, and review processes across EMEA.
  • Measure progress through communications quality, stakeholder satisfaction, employee understanding, message consistency, and execution against regional priorities.

What we’re looking for

  • 8+ years of experience in corporate communications, internal communications, external communications, executive communications, public relations, thought leadership, or reputation management.
  • Experience in financial services, trading, capital markets, fintech, technology, professional services, or another complex and regulated environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, narrative development, stakeholder management, and executive-support skills.
  • Proven ability to advise senior leaders and handle sensitive communications with discretion and good judgment.
  • Experience building communications plans across internal, external, regional, and executive audiences.
  • Ability to translate complex business, technology, market, and regulatory topics into clear and credible communications.
  • Strong understanding of regional nuance across EMEA, with the ability to maintain global consistency while adapting messaging locally.
