Job Title: Communications Support Officer

Location: Collingwood, VIC (Hybrid Work Model)

Employment Type: Part Time (0.8 FTE), Fixed Term Contract (until June 2026)

Salary: $67,275 per annum (plus super)

VACCHO is the peak representative for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria.

We have 34 member Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations providing support to over 78,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the state. We lead and support Aboriginal Community Control and the broader health and social services sector to deliver transformative health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal communities in Victoria. About the role

The Communications Support Officer (CSO) plays a vital role in supporting the Communication and Digital services team at VACCHO. This position involves assisting the team implement the Communication and Digital Services strategy and deliver actions as part of communications plans developed for project teams throughout the organisation.

As an entry level position into the Communications and Digital Services team, the CSO will be supervised and supported by the Senior Communications Officer (SCO) in their day-to-day tasks. Both CSO and SCO will report to the Executive Manager, Communications and Digital Services.

Essential skills/experiences

  • Experience with providing teams administrative support
  • Photography and videography experience including editing multimedia content
  • Graphic design experience (and familiar with online graphic design platforms like Canva desirable)
  • Keen learner willing to be proactive and take on new challenges
  • High attention to detail when delivering communications projects
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience using Microsoft applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project Management) combined with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Experience in producing multimedia content
  • Skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and PremierPro
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and pulling data and analytics
  • Ability to quickly learn how to use software and platforms such as the Adobe Suite, IntelligenceBank, FreshDesk, Buffer

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
