The Executive Office of Education is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented communications intern to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in government communications and public service. As a communications intern, you will work with members of the press and digital team to monitor the news and social media, prepare news clips, attend events and press conferences, conduct research, and assist with digital content creation. This position is currently funded through December 31, 2026. Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Collect and distribute news clips several times a week
  • Assist in the development of social media content and graphics that are engaging, informative, and accessible
  • Assist in drafting media advisories, press releases and other related content
  • Assist with records and logs of media coverage and requests
  • Assist in the development of collateral materials
  • Gather and coordinate materials for use at external events
  • Take photos and/or video of events and meetings
  • Assist communications team on other activities and duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate (junior or senior) or graduate student in public relations, marketing, communications, or digital communication
  • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills
  • The ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare news briefings
  • Creative thinker with attention to detail and a knack for storytelling
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation
  • Interest in public policy, government, and communications
  • The ability to engage with the public, stakeholders, and media in a professional manner
