Join us as a Communications Studentfor our Ottawa district, within our Canadian Buildings sector for 4 months starting in August 2026. Depending on your assigned project as a Communications Student, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

Responsibilities

  • Assists with writing and editing for a range of print and electronic communications products ; creates content for our intranet PCL Connects and internet PCL.com; researches and writes on feature stories for PCL.com.
  • Works with our communications specialist to develop/prepare messaging and content for regional and international communications.
  • Works with our communications specialist to support community involvement initiatives and campaigns.
  • Supports the creation and maintenance of District staff photography files.
  • Assists with writing and editing material for conferences and events.
  • Captures and organizes photography for ads, social media, and other marketing materials.
  • Assists in developing branded materials based on PCL’s visual identity (e.g., brochures and infographics).
  • Works collaboratively with our communications specialist and events planner to develop videos on a variety of topics.
  • Performs multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Assists with filing and organizing of resources within Marketing & Communications environment.
  • Organizes reports/presentations/marketing documentation.
  • Assists in preparing and developing marketing tools.

Qualifications

  • Working towards a degree or diploma in a communications-related field (communications, public relations, marketing, etc.).
  • Strong written communication and collaboration skills.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and the ability to tailor content to each platform as required.
  • Experience with photography, photo editing would be an asset.

The estimated salary range for this role is 19.25 to 29.65., based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
