We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Communications Specialist

Understands and stays abreast of issues, both external and internal, that impact company operations. Prepares leadership, safety, training, and environmental communications, both written and multimedia, for internal distribution with minimal assistance. Facilitates communication among company management and employees. Identifies issues and develops communication plans for appropriate audiences. Visualizes and humanizes data to increase engagement at all employee levels. Advises management on communication strategies. Assists and promotes Dominion Energy Virginia programs.

Senior Communications Specialist

Understands and stays abreast of issues, both external and internal, that impact company operations. Independently prepares and delivers complex leadership, safety, training, and environmental communications, both written and multimedia, for internal distribution. Facilitates communication among company management and employees. Proactively identifies issues and leads in developing communication plans for appropriate audiences. Anticipates needs and provides guidance to management on complex, communications issues or projects. Visualizes and humanizes data to increase engagement at all employee levels. Identifies areas to innovate and improve internal communication processes. Assists and promotes Dominion Energy Virginia programs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Communications Specialist - 2-3+ years of corporate communications and/or news media experience.

Senior Communications Specialist - 5-6+ years of corporate communications and/or news media experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of multimedia, videography, photography, and newsletter design.
  • Experience working with a team and managing complex, communications project budgets and deadlines from ideation to completion.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Superior writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to process and respond to information quickly.

In addition the Senior Communications Specialist will have superior multimedia, videography, photography, and newsletter design skills, demonstrated initiative and self-direction, and the ability to lead a team, or to work productively within a team.

Education Requirements

  • Education Level:

    If degree preferred, then the degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience are accepted in lieu of preferred degree. If degree is required, then the equivalency is not accepted in lieu of the required degree.

    Bachelor preferred in

    • Journalism

    • Mass Communication

    • Film/Photography
