Job Description

📸 Communications Officer – Timor-Leste

Do you love uncovering real life stories that deserve to be told? The kind that start on a remote airstrip and end up inspiring people around the world? Then this might be your next chapter.

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) uses light aircraft to deliver help, hope, and healing in more than 30 developing countries. For over 75 years, we’ve flown patients, relief workers, and essential supplies into places where flying is not a luxury but a lifeline. In Timor-Leste, we’ve been serving since 2007. Since the UN departed in 2012, MAF has remained the only provider of a vital air ambulance service, transporting sick and injured people from remote districts to the capital, Dili.

Now, we’re looking for a full time Communications Officer to help tell these stories and share the impact.

**NOTE: Applicants must have current rights to work in Timor-Leste. Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment background checks including a Criminal History check. Acceptance of and adherence to MAF’s purpose, vision and values is an essential condition of employment.**

Responsibilities

✈️ What You’ll Be Doing

This role is part storyteller, and part content creator. You’ll travel to remote communities, meet partners and beneficiaries, and capture the moments that show how aviation transforms lives.

You’ll gather interviews, write compelling case studies, take striking photos, and shoot video. You’ll keep the programme’s social media alive, manage website content, and ensure a steady flow of updates to the global MAF community.

From documenting aircraft reports for donors to coordinating media visits and supporting public relations, your work will help fuel fundraising, inform prayer, and showcase the real impact of MAF’s work. Some days you’ll be crafting stories at your desk. Other days you’ll be bouncing down a dirt road or stepping off a small aircraft into a village with a camera in hand.

Mission Aviation Fellowship

About Mission Aviation Fellowship

Mission Aviation Fellowship was founded in 1945 by a group of WWII pilots who had a vision for how aviation could be used to help spread the Gospel.

Since those early days, we have been an indispensable partner and servant to some 500 Christian organizations, humanitarian agencies, and more. We enable and maximize evangelism and church nurturing, medical assistance, disaster response, and community development, as well as the training and development of indigenous people.

Using aviation, we desire to see isolated people changed by the love of Christ by serving together to bring help, hope, and healing. We meet the physical and spiritual needs of isolated people in 42 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Eurasia and Latin America, operating a fleet of 47 light aircraft. Dedicated missionary families raise their own ministry support to serve as the hands and feet of Christ to those in need.
