Job Description

$21-24 per hour and a Free Family YMCA Membership

Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Communications & Marketing, the Communications & Marketing Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the YMCA of Greater Rochester’s communication and marketing strategies by producing and implementing content across multiple mediums, both internal and external. The Coordinator will work to ensure the Y’s story and brand are shared energetically and authentically with members, staff and the community at large, and will be responsible for understanding and applying the Y’s voice to messaging and designs. To be successful, this person will demonstrate YMCA leadership competencies and the core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Collaborate in the development of creative concepts and messaging across print and digital platforms, ensuring all campaigns clearly reflect YMCA values and drive engagement with key audiences.

· Apply a strong understanding of the YMCA brand, voice and community impact to create compelling, engaging materials that resonate and inspire action.

· Ensure consistency in design, tone and messaging across all channels to maintain brand integrity and strengthen community recognition.

· Partner closely with the Experience Team to align messaging, support strategic priorities and deliver a cohesive member and participant experience.

· Serve as a trusted resource to Association staff.

· Lead assigned projects from concept through execution, developing clear timelines, managing priorities and delivering within established deadlines and budgets.

· Support and help coordinate YMCA events, ensuring strong promotional presence and alignment with overall engagement strategies.

· Participate in required meetings and training opportunities to strengthen skills and stay aligned with organizational direction.

· Contribute to a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement, taking on additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

· Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing or a related field preferred.

· Strong attention to detail with the ability to think analytically and ensure accuracy in all work.

· Creative thinker who generates innovative ideas while maintaining consistency and brand standards.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong active listening and the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.

· Demonstrated ability to assess situations, identify opportunities for improvement and take appropriate corrective action for self.

· Collaborative team player with the ability to build relationships across teams, while also working independently and managing responsibilities with minimal supervision.

· Strong time and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be able to sit and stand for extended duration of shift.

· Must be able to bend and stoop frequently.

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
