Job Description

Our client, a public sector body, is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to join the programme office of a major healthcare capital programme based in Dublin 4 This post will be supporting one of the largest healthcare infrastructure projects in the country. Reporting to the Programme Management Office Lead, you will coordinate communications, stakeholder engagement and training activity across the programme's capital, operational readiness and ICT workstreams. The ideal candidate will bring senior-level communications and public affairs experience within healthcare or a related environment, with a strong track record of ministerial and departmental engagement.

This is a one year agency contract position, with great possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with programme objectives.
  • Support senior leadership with clear and consistent messaging on programme developments, milestones and transitions.
  • Plan and coordinate stakeholder briefings, engagement events and programme presentations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate responses to Department of Health requests, Parliamentary Questions, Ministerial representations and Oireachtas committee requirements.
  • Manage media enquiries and draft press releases, media statements, briefing notes and key messages in conjunction with the national communications team.
  • Develop internal communication materials and support onboarding, awareness and change management activity across programme teams.
  • Produce content for digital and online channels, tailored to different audiences and compliant with communication standards and governance.
  • Monitor media, political and policy developments, analysing emerging trends, risks and opportunities and escalating key issues.
  • Provide regular communications reports to programme leadership and maintain communication logs and stakeholder engagement records.

Requirements

  • QQI Level 8 qualification (or higher) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media, Marketing, Public Affairs or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in a senior communications, public affairs or stakeholder engagement role.
  • A record of achievement in a communications role within the health sector, construction sector or a related environment, including campaign planning, content development and handling broadcast, print and online media queries.
  • Experience implementing an integrated communications strategy in healthcare or a related environment.
  • Experience in public communications, including engaging with, briefing and working alongside Ministers and their staff.
  • Access to appropriate transport and flexibility on working hours, as travel to other sites may be required.
