The Communications Manager shall be responsible for the management, supervision, and strategic direction of the Communications Center. This includes ensuring operational readiness, compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and the effective use of technology such as Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and radio networks. The Communications Manager shall provide direct leadership and supervision to all Communications Supervisory Staff and assistance to assigned personnel in the Communication Center, with the additional responsibilities of monitoring subordinates, policy review, outside agency communications liaison, employee training and evaluations and custodian of dispatch records. Additional responsibilities may be added as needed.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Communications, Criminal Justice, Public Administration and/or experience in related field with a minimum of seven (5) years of public safety communications experience, including three (3) years of supervisory responsibility, or a minimum of seven (7) years of direct public safety communications experience, including three (3) years of supervisory responsibility.
Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to type 40 wpm with 90% accuracy. Must be able to work all shift work schedules. Hours will be varied.
The work is light and requires the ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: crawling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, lifting, mental acuity, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
